Some context: I am an expat on a business trip to Mumbai and have been living in the Caliph (formerly Metro Residency) for 3 months.
These are my objective observations.
Cleanliness: very bad, the housekeeping staff are incompetent. They don't clean thoroughly, just pass a mop on the visible floor not bothering to clean corners where dirt accumulates. I have a literal carpet of dust under my bed.
Laundry: I've had 2 items of clothing ruined, one of them they have not yet returned under the premise that rewashing it may somehow remove the burns sustained.
Service: if you want something, you better ask for it at least 3 times and don't expect it to come within 30 minutes. Example: I was out of toilet paper because they don't bother replacing it unless you remind them to. I asked for 2 rolls of tp, after about 45 minutes I get only one.
Food: the breakfast is adequate as I only eat boiled eggs, but otherwise the restaurant does not smell good. Also, for some reason you can only order food after 7 p.m. If you get hungry at 3 p.m. and don't feel like going out, tough luck.
Summary: Service is bad, cleanliness is bad, laundry is bad.
