Description: Ziya is the sophisticated Indian restaurant at The Oberoi, Mumbai serving modern interpretations of Indian cuisine. The restaurant also celebrates the return of the prodigal Chef Vineet Bhatia, the first Indian chef to be awarded a Michelin star. At Ziya, Chef Vineet and his team invite guests to enjoy an haute dining experience, by offering evolved Indian cuisine. International ingredients are paired with the tastes of traditional India, resulting in modern preparations with bold flavours, presented in a contemporary style. All dishes are pre-plated and the emphasis is on maintaining individual sets of flavours. Dining at Ziya is a veritable feast for the senses. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a stunning series of screens or jaali, in delicate gold leaf and sweeping views of the ocean. Diners can watch the chefs at work in the glass-enclosed show kitchen.

It was my Mom's bday and I had researching for several days for a restaurant experience which would act as a perfect surprise. Finally out of several confusing options I narrowed down to Ziya at the Oberoi. Although a bit doubtful then but today I can say that it was the best decision made. The pleasant experience started right from making the reservation over phone but the way they made it special it does not seem to end. Having known the occasion Ziya made all efforts to ensure the best. To list down we had the Best Table with awesome view of the Arabian Sea, creative starters, lip-smacking main course, perfect desserts and last but not the least an perfectly presented bday cake. All of these were garnished by the very hospitable staff which overall made this to be one of the best family dinning experiences ever. Thanks Ziya.

The meal started so well, the amuse-bouche, the popadums and dips were stunning, the starter was phenomenal and the wine was very, very good. The food looked very high end, the presentation was wonderful. The service was attentive, helpful and friendly.

However the main course was not at the same level as everything else, I had a chicken and rice dish cooked in a pot, it was very nice but did not meet the expectations set by the previous dishes.

The setting also felt very much like a hotel restaurant, it may have been because it was a quiet Sunday night, the restaurant was a bit lacking in atmosphere.

We were staying at the Trident/Oberoi so the club lounge booked us a table. The service, food and ambience were alk superb. The restaurant was expensive in relation to Indian prices, but it was worth it. The lamb dish i had was delicious and some of the best Indian food i have ever tasted. I would highly recommend.

We were a group of 5 people each with different tastes. The waiter was kind enough to customize the tandoori platter for each of us. The tandoori prawns were awesome. Even the prawn curry tasted nice. Desserts were fine too. Only the biryani was just ok.
