“Very comfortable and close to the int'l airport”
Reviewed 30 July 2012 via mobile

Very often when travelling to Mumbai, i used to select hotels close to the city center, as i did believe they were more attractive.
With the increased level of traffic, selecting an hotel too far away from your business may turn into a nightmare, specially during monsoon times.
In my last trip i had meetings in Vile Parle hence a location near the airport was very suitable.
I was recommended the Lalit because of its strategical location.
The hotel is nicely decorated, large rooms and a huge hall with many seatings scattered around.
There are also several restaurants, which offer decent meals at reasonable prices.
After all it has all what i needed and it represents a good value for money.
Only negative point, the service is a bit slow.
However i shall land back to the Lalit next time.

The Lalit is a nice business hotel, ideally located in the Andheri area which makes it in close proximity to the Mumbai airport.

I stayed there during a conference and both my stay as well as the event were very smooth. The staff was very courteous and worked through the night to make the event a success.

In terms of the amenities, there's a 24-hr coffee shop which serves most cuisines (the bakery selection should find a special mention!) and it was also the venue of our very late dinner after a late night arrival & check-in. Apart from the nice, food, it overlooks the pool which makes the experience even more special.

Tip - If you're the party kinds, you can venture out to Sutra which is sure to make you let your hair down!

Excellent deal through Makemytrip. Great value for money. Excellent decor, humongous lobby and a very courteous staff. Add on plush rooms with a supplied iron and ironing board and a great healthclub, this is a complete package. Very close to International airport and nearby the domestic one ( takes about 15-20 min by taxi - depending upon the time ).

Room Tip: Rooms are good. You can ask for a room on the front side overlooking the pool. With constructions go...

I often stay at InterContinental hotels, and back at the time, this was. However, it certainly did not meet reasonable expectations.

I was upgraded to a suite that was chilled to Arctic temperatures - in itself not bad given the tropical heat outside. Except there was no way I could get the air conditioning to be controlled. Worse, there were blood-thirsty mosquitoes in the room. When I called their service desk to get someone to spray the room, I was told "there can't be any mosquitoes". Many itchy spots on my skin told me otherwise.

As I was really tired, I went to bed early, only to be woken up -and kept awake- from 2 am till morning as my room overlooked some kind of large distribution cycle with loud PA announcements to drivers/loaders being made every minute or so.This in spite of my routine booking request of assigning a quiet room.

The location is not great, and (not uncommon for India), walking anywhere requires good footwear and a daring attitude - because of traffic and the lack of a useable sidewalk, not crime.

At the prices charged, service really should be way better.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

I never thought our experience at The Lalit would be so bad. Here is what we faced:

1. Even after paying 50% of the Best Available Rate for an early check in, we were given the room only after 6am in the morning. If they are charging 50% of the room rate that technically should mean that they should give us the room anytime after 12 in the midnight since it would be half day. Very inconsiderate staff and this never happens in 5-stars.

2. We had a small snack at their coffee shop and when we settled the bill by cash we were surprised that their staff automatically took the change as tip without even returning the same to us. Though it was a very very small amount such behavior is unacceptable.

3. We asked for a cool cab from the concierge desk and they got one for us quickly and only after we sat in the cab and reached half way, we were told by the cab driver that we will have to pay a fixed fare (Rs. 450/-) no matter where we went in mumbai and that was the hotel policy. At least the hotel desk should have informed us about this.

4. In our rooms we had a card saying that the hotel offered complimentary seasonal fruits on request. But later we realised that we were charged for the fruits. On asking the staff about this they bluntly told us that only whole fruits are complimentary and not cut fruits. They did not even mention anything about this earlier.

Overall a terrible experience and the hotel staff is not at all transparent and ethical. We are never going to stay in any of their properties ever or recommend them to anybody either.

Spent the last night of our India trip at the Lalit and was easily the best hotel we stayed in. The service was amazing, and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. Both the rooms, and public areas were immaculate, and we saw staff cleaning all the time. Have to say that the other 5 star hotels we stayed in weren't quite so clean. Would highly recommend as we recently started travelling to Mumbai the location and the welcome is really great. The team is very young and ensure that you looked after well . Our departure was quick we were getting late for international flight the manager ensured we were taken to the airport and helped us to get good seats.

Hotel is extremely close to the airport which according to me was the only plus point the hotel. The hotel seems to be a bit old & requires a Re do. The lobby is GRAND!!! The staff at front desk was very efficient & prompt. I dint had to wait in the lobby for the checking in, was escorted to my room on the 4th Floor directly and all the formalities were taken care in the room. Food at 24/7 was OK!!!!! Overall a good hotel with old decor but an enthusiastic & Great Team at Front desk.
