A fine hotel !
The location is some 20 minutes from the airport and this is a review of the hotel, rather than the area.
The area, Powai, is not inspiring. You are located some 20+ km from Colaba, or what I deem to be Bombay.
It's a large complex, gave me a slight feeling of being in luxurious prison compounds, this is simply because it's a gated development and the grounds are large.
I was booked into a club room and check in was swift.
My room was large, bathroom was fantastic - seperate shower and tub. Absolutely fantastic water pressure in the shower.
Large bed, very comfortable with more pillows than I knew what to do with.
Large LCD television, complimentary tea/coffe/water and fruit.
My room was on a high floor of the new wing and overlooked the pool and lake. In terms of view, it was fantastic.
Housekeeping would check in the evening if anything was needed, always a nice touch.
The club lounge was large. Snacks available throughout the day with a limited breakfast and a ' happy hour ' where standard alchoholic drinks were available in the evening.
Complimentary wi fi, for which you need to request a code. The code lasts for 1 hour, you simply ask for another.
Leading off the lounge is an outdoor area for smokers, very comfortable and during the ' cooler ' months, such as February, really pleasant, although no wi fi signal outside.
Everyone in the club lounge was helpful and what I found distinctly different to other establishments in India, no one hovered over you for a tip, it just felt like everyone was just doing their job - and very well too.
I ate in the Italian restaurant one evening which was not bad at all.
I also took breakfast, which can be extremely busy, but the choice is greater than the club lounge and in honesty, despite being busy, I had no complaints in terms of coffee or the egg station.
Absolutely fantastic choice.
I also ate here twice in the evening for their buffet and found both evenings to be almost identical.
A plus here, you can elect to have the alchoholic or soft drink buffet, the first including beer/wine - not much difference between the 2 in terms of pricing. The wine was actually quite good.
The pool is a fair size, with adequate loungers. I passed through the gym a couple of times and whilst I did not use it, seemed fairly well equipped.
Passing through the gym, down a spiral stair case, before you venture out to the pool - enter the gents WC and there is a steam room and jacuzzi for use by hotel guests. Not sure if the same exists in the ladies.
There are Delta, Continental and Lufthansa crew staying at the hotel, this is always a good sign !
I have one gripe :
Despite having a club room, they should include some in room wi fi complimentary. I've experienced this in other hotels in India where wi fi in the room is either free or a set number of free hours per day.
All in all, a very pleasant stay. Many guests appeared to be working in the BPO's, so my guess is the hotel is handy for that. A very good stay and absolutely no hesitation in recommending the hotel.
