I stayed here for 3 nights in the beginning of Nov, 2010. The hotel is very close to the international airport which I think it's good, especially my flight landed at 1am in the midnight. But that means it's quite far to reach the city center - approx 40 mins to South Bombay without traffic.
The hotel lobby is huge and quite grand, staff is friendly and professional, adequate english to communicate with. There is also a shopping mall linked to the hotel, however, most shops are closed in the mall, I believe a few visitors actually shop there.
I was told by a local that the indian restaurant has good food, though I haven't got a chance to try myself. Food for room service is pretty good - a bit salty for my taste but I guess it's the indian style.
The corridor on the room level is so bright, so silent and so empty - a bit creepy
As for the room - i am quite disappointed. Good thing is the room is very spacious (quite empty to be honest), equipped with huge flat screen TV & ipod dock, and it's partly-newly renovated (apparently the room area is newly refurbished but not the washroom part).
And they give out complimentary bottled water very generously (4 to 5 bottles everyday), obviously visitors all have concern about indian tap water quality
Bad thing is it's dirty for grand hyatt standard - I saw stains on the glass working desk, very dusty bathroom amenities box and face mirror, moldy light switches etc. Shower area is a nightmare, very badly designed for the drainage, water flooded from the shower area all the way to the sink area as there is no glass door/ shower curtain/ slant floor whatsoever, i was not able to enjoy a good shower as I constantly needed to check the flooding level. Housekeeping standard fluctuates - I found out they didnt replace a used conditioner (the conditioner is probably used once, for a frequent guest at the hyatt hotel, i immediately noticed the bottle is not filled up)
The bed is another nightmare - it's sunken in the middle of my bed, bed lining is rough - totally not up to grand hyatt standard
I've stayed in lots of hyatt hotels in Asia, this is the worst grand hyatt so far.
For the room rate I've paid (it's a fortune for the local standard), I expected more.
