“Don't be afraid to eat the food here.”

This is a great spot at sunset for people watching. We were initially taken there by Reality Tours and travel on their food tour and were told by the company that the permanent vendors selling puri and ice cream were safe and hygienic. We had snacks on several days during our stay and had no problems with sickness. The vendors often wore gloves and hair nets and the area around the stalls were very clean. The atmosphere was great and we spend several hours just watching people enjoy themselves in the evening sun.

“Good to visit but only in sunny season”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

Chowpatty is definitely not an attraction to visit in Monsoon season as I did. Like many other beaches and sea resorts in India, the life of this place dies during the rainy season so best to see it in the winter months when it comes alive.

“Not Baywatch...”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

The administration needs to work really hard to bring Girgaum Chowpatty to global standards. Good start by arranging the food stalls like an open air food court. Cleanliness has to be maintained on a regular basis. A private firm has also started water sports just before Chowpatty starts. Its quite expensive considering the theme is yet to catch up with the normal people.

In Mumbai one can visit beaches at Girgaum Chowpatty (nerest local railway stn is Charni road on western railway just half kms away )or Juhu beach (nearest local railway stn Santacruz west 3 kms away autos available from santacruz to Beach . This Girgaum Chawpatty is crowded and one can view Ocen from here with Big buildings at Malbar hills nearby and Air india bld, NCPA bld, etc at Nariman point . One can take a walk on Marine drive . The best time to visit in Morning or late evening .

From here Taraporwala Aqarium which is worth visit is just 5 minutes away .
Also one can visit Malbar hill gardens and Hanging gardens (twin gardens ) nearby .

“dirty dirty”
Reviewed 10 June 2013

its just dirtry. i am shocked to see the kind of governance Indians are subjected to. despite of being gifted with such beautiful beach naturally. nothing has been done to make it like an international beach destination. its just dirty and the only reason people still coming is either they hv nt acquainted themselves wit better beaches or they just dnt hv any option
