It was a 2 nights stay in Hotel Grant. As per the Mumbai property rates, Rs.1700 a night was a reasonable amount for an AC room. But the maintenance of hotel rooms was very poor
-There was a cracked wall due to bathroom moisture which appeared too ugly.
-AC was too noisy and not better than a desert cooler
-Beddings were dirty with stain marks(which was replaced by hotel staff on request)
-Rooms were full of traffic noise due to its on road location
-No wifi available
-Room size was too small
-Bathroom light was fused(which was replaced by hotel staff on request)
-The guy on Reception took room keys from us for security reasons when we walked out for mumbai darshan(very unprofessional gesture)

The only thing good about the hotel is the reachable location and good connectivity with BEST/Local trains/Railway Station/tourist spots.

I was there from 26th'Aug to 15th'Sept'2012. It was really a very cosy and nice type of Hotel. The Hotel Staff, they were very Polite,Nice and Helpful. During our stay, only Problem we faced the Damaged Lift. Very hard to use the Stair up to 4th Floor. Otherwise, it is Good to reach any destination.

Room Tip: Ask the Hotel Staff

Having called and reserved a room the night before we arrived at a low rate we were frustrated to arrive and find that all of the rooms at this rate were taken. Instead we were offered a 'suite' at more than double the price.
Deciding that the hotel was too far from the action to pay that price we began looking for an alternative hotel, miraculously the hotel staff found one last room at the lesser price. We took the room even though it was dirty and cramped because the chance of finding a good room in Mumbai by midday is quite low.
We ordered some drinks from room service and after 45 minutes I went downstairs to ask for the two cans of coke and they were extremely confused as to why I was annoyed
We had organised with friends to meet in our room before heading out however when they arrived we were rudely informed that no guests were allowed in the hotel without paying and our friends were made to wait outside.
We decided to check out the following morning and informed the staff that night. However when we went to check out the morning manager tried to tell us we were required to pay for a second night as we had not informed them of check out.

Basically, don't bother wasting your time or energy!

Handy location to railway station & bus stops, staffs are friendly. Unfortunately, my room shared a wall with the elevator, even with ear plugs still could hear the noise and vibrations, sleepless nights during my saty.

I stayed in Grant Hotel for 4 days in my last trip to Mumbai .The location of Hotel is very good , walking distance to Grant Road station . Staff in reception is very polite & warm . Housekeeping Services , Cleanliness , Food is up to mark ,considering the hotel is budget property .Rooms are also reasonably ok considering tariff of hotel . Overall well maintained Hotel run efficiently ,good option for low budget tourist looking for stay in South Mumbai .

The hotel isn't dirty, but it's definitely not sparkling clean either. Not bad for India, but not a first choice (even for a budget traveller).

On the plus side: the air conditioner and fan kept the room cool, individual hot water heater made the shower quite hot, and the staff is wiling to help/advise.

However, there is NO WIFI (only one ancient computer to access the internet at Rs 50 an hour), the beds have no top sheet (only an itchy blanket), the hotel itself is a bit dingy throughout, and the elevators are quite loud (try to get a room far away from them). It's also a bit hard to get to (in a computer-repair district) and in a neighborhood that isn't all that fun to walk around.

Room Tip: Away from the noisy elevator.
