The location cannot get any better.... the price at this location cannot get any cheaper.... but yet there is a certain feeling that will pull u away from this hotel as the rooms are way too small... they are a bit TACKY... but yet i would recommend this hotel as with the location and price that they offer i would not mind compromising some luxuries...there was a benefit for me as i just went back to the room to sleep through the night... most of the time i was outside... so it was completely ok with me to sleep on a small bed... but ppl that have issues that they require a good room this hotel is not for u.....

Room Tip: Ask for the roadside facing room....

I had reviewed Hotel New Castle earlier and the review still holds good. Good budget hotel with all the basics in place, with free internet and good, friendly service at very reasonable rates. (I wish they would replace the air conditioners!)

This write up is to highlight the choice of restaurants and the bar, which is remarkable in a small hotel.

One restaurant is the pure vegetarian “Only Parathas”. Don’t get misled by its name – they also serve dosa , idli, Chinese, soups, juices, kulfi and thalis. However, when it comes to parthas, its truly lives up to its name, with ten pages of the menu dedicated to the paratha.

The purist will be happy, to find the standard Alu and Gobi Parathas on the card, but the adventurous will find the variety mind boggling, with rajma, sprouts, pudina, garlic, potato combined with a with a variety of vegetables, red capsicum, yellow capsicum, baby corn and soya bean being a sample of the offerings. Some stuff on the menu raised questions in my mind; for example, in the “cabbage and rice” paratha, was the rice a or stuffing or did it come on the side ? And in the “green peas with papad” paratha, where did the papad figure ?,

The few parathas I tried on different occasions were delicious. The fact that is jam packed at meal times is an indication of the quality of the food and the resultant popularity.

The other restaurant, called “Andys’ Pizzeria” , gives you pizzaas that range from Rs 110 for the 7 inch basic one to 420 for the ten inchers to 510 for the top of the line premium variety.

The “pizzeria” also serves a range of western style food - starters, garlic bread, brushetta, Pitta bread with hummus, soups, salads ( in the Rs. 160-260..360 range). Most patrons seemed to favour the pasta and burgers priced from Rs. 180 to 240. The main course part of the menu listed the usual stuff like Chicken, Stroganoff, Chicken Risotto and Chicken paprika etc. All are quite good without quite being outstanding

Intruding into the western menu is Thai curry…read and green, vegetable, chicken and prawn …(Rs 260, 280, 320) I tried the green curry with chicken and found that was pretty good.

The décor is simple and the service is good.

Though the Banana Bar can get a bit noisy with rather loud music, you can sit in the open air place where is much quieter, if you don’t mind people smoking around you.The cocktails are very good and the prices very reasonable. Happy hours in the evening.

One of my worst experiences ever. Had to get he room aired and get the staff to use air freshener just to be able to stand in the room. Also paid for an AC room which did not work. The manager was arrogant and alien from the concept of customer service. Told me too bad dont bother to stay next time as he already charged nights tariff in advance not much I can do.

Room Tip: do not book here

In December 2010 we stayed at the Hotel New Castle for the first time. We were extremely satisfied with its location and the ultra friendly staff. Needless to say that when we planned our return trip to Bandra (Mumbai), we chose to stay at the same hotel. We spent 6 glorious nights here from 24 December 2011. In our 12 month absence, we saw a marked improvement in the facilities. The hotels added "Andy's Pizzeria & Diner" to their already popular "Banana Bar Lounge" and "Only Parathas". Being in the heart of Linking Road, this hotel is the ideal base, if shopping is your priority. This is really good value.

Room Tip: If the suite is available, go for it.

This hotel is located on Linking road, Khar (W), and is very convenient for anyone on a work trip that bring one to this area. The rooms (I chose the budget option) was small, reasonably clean, not modern in comparison to what other hotels nearby have to offer, with an old fashioned TV. The bathroom was dingy and hot water was from a small instant geyser. Service was good, and food options were also aplenty.

For a budget stay, this hotel is an option, but it is an idea to check the other hotels just a few yards away before deciding on it.
