The urban tadka is a great chain of restaurant providing good panjabi food. I visited with my friends and had we enjoyed the food and the ambience a lot. A special mention for the condiments and especially the starter tandoori gobi...which was one of the best I would have ever had. Reasonably priced. Good value for money.
A must visit for everyone.
Service was prompt and courteous.
Kudos to the staff of Urban tadka. Keep it up guys.

Another one for good Indian food. Haven't been there for some time now, though. There aren't any outlets near where I stay :-( But reviews from friends keep trickling in and the food is still the same - tasty and unhealthy :-)

The most "Punjabi" restaurant around.I ve been frequenting this joint for more than 3 years now and trust me never fails to please me.Its the best Punjabi food joint that Mumbai could hope for.
Everything from the ambience , Music, Decor , Drinks and of course the Food has the flavours of "Sadda Punjab".
The service is excellent and staff very efficient! And the bonus is that its not even too taxing on my purse!
Tip: The Jalebi with Rabri rocks....

Punjabi cuisine in restaurants is the invention of Indian restauranteurs alone. And Urban Tadka, for Bombay does a decent enough job of that. It is advertised as "North Indian" in terms of cuisine. But do note, the food is excessively spicy and often excessively laden with butter and ghee (clarified butter). Not that I don't enjoy it once in a while, but it might just get nauseating for a few who are not used to the same.

The menu is rather simple with an leaning towards Chicken and Mutton. Vegetarians have fewer options (the Sarson ka swag is rather delicious). You will find all the traditional kebabs and all of them are very well-done. Avoid the Galouti Kebab. They push it overtly but it is merely a cheap imitation of the famed Tunday's, that neither looks, smells or tastes anything like a Galouti.

Their signature items have to be the Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Kalimiri and their Dal Makhani. The parathas are decent. The outlet at 7 Bungalows serves alcohol. And though they have some pretty unique cocktails - vodka with kokum for instance - but the liquor is hardly premium and you are better off drinking beer. Wine lovers, drink a few before you land up. They serve the cheapest of Indian wines and forget Reidel, they do not even have wine glasses. If the meal is too spicy for you, top it off with the Jalebis with rabri. It is again decently done but then again at more than 100 rupees a plate for the humble jalebi, it better be.

The service is slow and on busy nights they do mix-up (and often forget) orders. If you are heading there on a weekend, ensure you go early as the waiting can be long. The pricing is rather high if you take in to account the cramped and confused decor and the quality of service. But then again no other Indian restaurant in Bombay has been able to consistently provide decent North Indian cuisine like these guys do. And we have to live with that.
