Visit at least once in your visit to this fantastic city.
Excellent food, top service. Located in the Taj Vivanta which is a great place to stay as well.

“Pleasant experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Walking through the narrow door from the lobby of the hotel into the Thai Pavilion, I wondered whether it was a disguised metal detector. That would be quite in keeping with the service you get here; the staff keeps a watch with no obtrusion. The look has not changed in some time: the tables are sufficiently far apart that you have a sense of privacy, the lighting is discreet, but still bright enough at the table to read by, the wine rack still towers over you.

We started with a Kir Royale, slightly sweeter than what I prefer, but acceptable. We chose scallops as one of our starters, and a sea bass in tamarind sauce as the other. The scallops were good, but the sea bass was the clear winner with its outstanding combination of tastes. The staff helped us with the rest of menu. We chose a duck and a fish to accompany the thai rice. The duck with a tamarind and peanut sauce was good. The fish was competent. Between us we chose only one dessert: the spiced creme brulee. It was clearly meant for two, and the spicing was cleverly done. That was three high notes in one meal.

This is definitely the best Thai restaurant in Mumbai today. The sweet notes are tweaked to the Indian palate, as are the chilis, without departing from the Thai range of spicing. What seems to be special about this restaurant is the blend with the acid. In the outstanding dishes we had, the sauce built on the flavour of the rest of the dish. At the same time, there were pedestrian dishes. Would it be worthwhile for the restaurant to reduce the menu, and weed out the less memorable? The portions are large, and the price is pleasantly surprising.

“Delicious Thai Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

I would rate Thai Pavilion as one of the best, if not the best , Thai restaurants in India . The food is authentic and delicious. We had raw papaya salad, Thai coconut milk soup, Thai green curry and Massaman curry with rice , water chestnuts and cashews, All flavourful and tasty. The portions are just enough for one person. The assorted dessert platter is a good deal which lets you try tiny mouthfuls of all the desserts.

It is not a very big restaurant though. So getting a table without a prior reservation is not easy, particularly for dinner or on weekends. The other problem with the restaurant is nil privacy. The tables are really close to each other . Service is good - attentive without being obstrusive.

“Nice decor and complementing food ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014 via mobile

The decor is contemporary Thai. It's a small to mid sized restaurant. Was there at lunch, the starters were good. The Thai green curry was average, have had better. The service is attentive yet not intrusive. It's worth a visit.
