“A warm homestay”
Reviewed 28 September 2013 via mobile

My boyfriend and I stayed at Jaipur Friendly Villa for 2 nights and it was really the perfect place to base ourselves in Jaipur.
We have been backpacking across Asia for just over 2 months and although the price of the room was a little more than we normally budget for, we thought it would be worth it to experience a home stay and have a more personal experience for a change.
Sveta and her husband Kul were very kind and let us have a room early in the morning (we arrived on their doorstep at about 7am straight from the airport). The house is located inside a gated community - a 150rs tuk tuk ride to the centre of town. The room was great, a comfy bed, aircon, cable tv, amazing power shower and little kitchenette, the wifi also worked perfectly.
The breakfasts were delicious, eggs, cereal, as much toast and guava jam as we could eat, fruit juice, tea and a different Indian breakfast item each day. (The masala dosa was particularly tasty!)
Both Sveta and Kul were very warm and chatty and full of useful information, they basically planned out a 2 day itinerary for us which was great as we were feeling lazy and quite happy to have someone tell us what is worth doing!
They also recommended places to eat each day. Our favourite was Jammies where we ate dinner both nights as the food was so tasty! The restaurant recommendations were a little pricier than we were used to in India but the food was delicious. We also had a Lassi from a place they recommended on MB road which was amazing! Very refreshing.
Kul showed us a short movie about indias mysticism on his home cinema screen which was very interesting! He was also incredibly helpful and booked our trains across Rajasthan for us, this was a massive help as it had been such a nightmare trying to set up a clear trip/irctc account from outside India.
I only wish we could have spent
more time there as it was so relaxing!

My husband and I stayed here at the beginning of September. We enjoyed a most warm welcome by Shveta and her husband Kul. They arranged a driver to take us around Jaipur and show us the sights we wanted to see.
The room was fabulous, decorated nicely and very comfortable and although the bed was a little too firm for us we slept quite soundly after a busy day of touring the city. The driver they arranged for us was very knowledgeable about the city and which sights to take us to see in the limited time we had.
We enjoyed Shveta's breakfast (included) and her hospitality was wonderful. We decided to dine out for dinner and get the flavour of India on our own (dinner at JFV is additional cost). Shveta and Kul were helpful in tips on places to eat but we found that their suggestions were a little pricey.
We watched a movie about India provided by Kul (his idea of a 15 minute movie was underestimated by about an hour however lol) and experienced his theatre room (quite impressive).
We bought some beer and they made room in their fridge for it so that we could enjoy a "cold one" when we got in from our travels and before going out to dinner. Shveta made us sandwiches to take with us when we left just in case we didn't get anything to eat on the train to Agra which was very much appreciated, and presented us with a little wooden keepsake box which was a lovely gesture.
Overall, a great place to stay when in Jaipur!

We came to Jaipur from Agra, and this place was recommended by the folks in Agra. It's a beautiful home - everything is clean and top quality. Comfy beds, good AC, and excellent showers - which alone was worth the stay! The family was great, and had two cute dogs. They arranged a driver for us to go see the sights, and helped us book train tickets. All around solid stay, and lots of little personal touches. The one night we stayed in and watched a documentary about India and drank beer with the father. It was great, and I recommend it to everyone! Top quality, and price still within the reach of all but the grungiest backpacker!

My brother and I recently stayed here, and were thrilled with our stay. When the owners found out it was our birthday, they baked us a cake and provided us with a lovely evening. Besides those lovely personal touches, the house itself is AMAZING. Clean, modern, elegantly decorated, and still manages to have the feeling of visiting family.

The owners are as helpful as can be- they suggested fantastic sites to visit (the monkey temple is a must!) and helped us change train tickets to extend our stay. It's an A+ establishment all the way.

Stayed here 3 months back and we were recommended this place by our friends back from home. Were we glad to follow in their footsteps most places as we were happy with tried and trusted places.

Travelling with kids is not always easy so we were glad we had a big van drive us around the golden triangle. Jaipur was our first stop and Friendly Villa was more than friendly. Although we stayed for a quick one night we had a comfortable room and the breakfast was delicious.Shweta the lady who runs this place is ever so sweet and she could not have been more helpful offering our kids what they wanted.

Lovely house, lovely hosts and inexpensive. All the best and we shall continue sending more people on the same trail.

Richters.

My husband and I stayed three nights in Shveta and Kul's lovely home and can only say, that the couple are the finest hosts, and their warmth is so real.

Spotless rooms, comfortable beds, clean modern bathrooms, excellent conversations, the delicious and lavish breakfasts and evening dinners, and above all, the pampering, and the attention and care, that can only comes from such genuine hosts.......what more can a person ask for?

It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to drive to the touristy part of the city, and there are plenty of tuk tuks available. But we always looked forward to going back to OUR home and relaxing in the company of Shveta and Kul.

We cannot agree more to what has already been said about JFV. For us they were a 6 on 5!

Room Tip: All rooms are of very high quality.

My wife and I traveled through the major sights of Rajasthan and the Golden Triangle, and had for the first time researched various homestay options on tripadvisor, wanting to make our trip to mystical India very special.
We knew that staying with an Indian family would be the best way to experience this marvelous country and people more closely. But at the same time, we were weary of what to expect. However, Shveta's quick and warm replies to all our emails with questions and concerns, were comforting.

We were tentative as we entered the beautiful home of Shveta and Kul. Shveta had organised a train station pickup for us through a very pleasant cab driver, and we arrived to her very friendly and comforting smile, followed by some lovely goodies and homemade lemonade (the month of April in Rajasthan, can be unbelievably hot). After a brief chat and a quick check-in, we were taken to a gorgeous room, well appointed with all modern gadgets. The air-con was already turned on so that we arrive to a cool room (how thoughtful!), and it was working perfectly. And for the first time in two weeks, we were greeted to a spotless en suite bathroom.

In the evening we were introduced to her husband Kul, who is a walking encyclopedia.....a rare combination of knowledge, wit and concern.

We spent three nights in their lovely home, waking up early mornings to fresh air......sitting on the patio sipping our coffees and enjoying the green garden and sound of birds (instead of horns blasting our senses). The beds were very comfortable and we jokingly gave Shveta and Kul the "Best Shower Award!"
The breakfasts (included), were the best we had in India, thoughtfully laid out with Western and Indian fare, and plenty of fruits (a rare thing to find).

The main sights of Jaipur are about a 20-25 minute drive away, and gosh, were we relieved to be back in the evenings to this oasis of calm and comfort.
After Shveta's amazing dinner the first night, we chose to eat in all the three nights of our stay (not wanting to miss a single opportunity to eat the best!). Shveta's cooking is amazing, and every dish was thoughtfully spiced to suit our tame American palates. Her chicken and mutton (goat meat) are to die for :)

But what sets this place apart, is not only the exacting standards of comforts, cleanliness and food, but being in the company of this wonderful couple, easy going folks, who instantly put you at ease in their lovely home. They are so friendly, welcoming, who readily take on all your concerns as their own, and have a solution you can blindly trust. We loved our chats over breakfast and dinner, and they willingly provided us insights into this mystical land with perspectives which we assume, can only come from their openness, education and extensive travel, both within their country and internationally. They deeply respect your time and are non-obtrusive. However, if you stay with them, we can assure you, you would not want to let go of any opportunity to laugh with them and learn from them.... their friendliness, warmth and modesty despite their social status and knowledge, can be humbling.

All we can say is, that this is one place you can trust blindly, both in terms of property and people.....its the best oasis we found on our entire trip! Thank you tripadvisor and all the reviewers. And above all, A BIG THANK YOU, Shveta and Kul, for being the highlight of our trip through your beautiful country :)

Room Tip: All the rooms were great from what we could make out. We stayed in the brown room which had a small...
