We stayed at rasa in Jaipur for two nights recently. The hotel itself consists of a series of tents, but they don't feel like tents! They have normal fixtures and fittings, and bathrooms etc and they feel very safe and secure. The place is very peaceful, being a little way out from Jaipur but not far. The place was fairly empty when we were there. The tent itself is very comfortable with an amazing bathroom, including a sunken bath. The food was also good, but beware that they do not serve alcohol (although there seemed to be a bit of confusion about this at one point when someone offered us a beer....). Nearby is a sanctuary for lions and tigers and you can hear roaring at night and in the morning.
My visit was spoiled by food poisoning of some sort, and I think that was either due to the fish curry I ate at the rasa or from the swimming pool which I swam in ....and at the time I thought that there didn't appear to be much chlorine evident in the water. I didn't eat for two days after leaving rasa....and nearly missed the taj mahal because of it.
My other negative was that the hotel made a mistake with our bill and didn't charge me enough. I wasn't my normal vigilant self because I was unwell, and the hotel hounded our tour company for the money we owed, when we had every intention of making the error good as soon as possible. I don't think I would return based on this unfortunate experience. It is a shame because the concept is good, and the rooms themselves are great, and the staff tried hard to please, but it all needs a bit more thought and training for this place to be classed as 5 star.

Dear guest,

Thank you for sparing your valuable time and giving your feedback on your recent stay at Rasa Resorts. The concept is new and is entirely different from most of the other luxury hotels in the city.

We appreciate your comments with regards to the accommodation as a peaceful place and we are delighted that you had a comfortable stay and liked the Rasa Resort.

We are extremely sorry to learn that you were disappointed with our food & beverages and the billing at the time your check-out. We always endeavour to offer the highest level of service and on this occasion we failed to meet your expectations. I have taken up your feedback personally with concerned heads who inturn have assured me that similar instances would not be repeated in future.

I hope that despite your disappointment on this occasion, we have the opportunity of welcoming you back at any of our group property i.e. Devi Garh fort palace in Udaipur which in the last 12 years of operation has consistently earned awards and accolades from the best in the industry for its design and services or at Devi Ratn in Jaipur, a spa destination inspired by the architectural tradition of Rajasthan.

Please let me know about your next visit at Devi Resorts / Rasa Resorts and I will personally take care of your stay.

Thanking you once again and assuring you of our best services at all times.

Warm Regards,

what we liked best was the quiet around and least was they need to have more experiences built in like theother ones on the trip advisor top list shows .
The experience june Zander and me had was good and we recomend strong.

My wife and I just spent two wonderful nights at the very unusual Rasa tent resort. The rooms which actually are tents are beautiful and very comfortable. There are gorgeous vines with blue flowers growing on the outsides of each unit. The bathroom is spectacular and bathed in natural light. My only criticism is that it is impossible to shower without water getting all over.

The staff were wonderful and by the second day addressed me by name. We were fortunate to be there on the Festival of Holi and the management put on our own private party for the guests, truly a fun experience. They also set up a special Holi buffet with many delicacies typically only sold by the street vendors - really delicious.

The restaurant was pretty good but ran out of wine. Their breakfast selection was pretty meager compared to some other Indian Hotels where we have stayed.

This hotel is a bit out of the way and you have to drive on a dirt road to get there. Eventually you go through a huge ancient arch which was the gate the Maharaja used to take to get into Jaipur. We passed a group of twenty peacocks along the way . When we arrived at the hotel we found ourselves in the midst of many hills with the ancient city walls and forts all around.

The Rasa Resort is a quiet Oasis a little off the beaten path from the chaos of Jaipur. Although access to the resort is via a bumpy, dirt road, it's well worth the trek. Actually it's conveniently located and closer to the attractions (Amer Fort, City Palace, etc) than most other Jaipur hotels. You have to drive a couple miles down the dirt road from the highway, but the peace and isolation makes it worth it. I must admit I was a little nervous at first arrived and learned I would be staying in a "tent". But I would say that the rooms are more like a luxury patio with vinyl walls. It really is a 5-star resort, excellent furnishings, and an especially awesome bathroom. Complete with soaking tub. I couldnt believe all of the negative reviews I saw for this property. On this trip I spent 2 days each in Jaipur, Delhi, and Agra. I got the best the sleep of all at this resort.

If like us you're on vacation and time is precious, you want to get the best experience possible. Sadly this place is great in theory but poor in practice. The 'temporary' structures resemble giant white boxes, they call them tents but they are nothing of the sort, they were designed to overcome local planning regulations. They are comfortable in a minamilist sort of way and I'm sure in 5 years the garden will have matured and it'll all make sense. With the exception of two staff the others were sweet but hopeless, more training required. The approach to the place is horrible, a narrow lane through a very poor housing district, tonnes of rubbish everywhere. We had three nights here, it was okay but boring, there is nothing offered, nothing to do and let's not forget, it's expensive. So, having previously stayed at the Rambagh I would urge you to stick to what is historically the best there is, it's your holiday when all said and done. Sorry Rasa but your not what it says on the can!
