“Very Good Hotel”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

We stayed just for one night during the off-season at this beautiful hotel. We learned that, historically, a ruling family from a nearby town once lived here when they were in Jaipur. As such, you enjoy the wonderful flavor of authentic Indian architecture. We also had the luck of being up-graded to a really beautiful and special suite. Comfortable sitting area, beautiful bedroom with a canopied bed, luxurious bath, as well as a traditional lounge on the balcony. It was special. The restaurant was just great, with exceptional service, and very good dinner and breakfast fare. This is perhaps beyond our means in the peak season, but it sure was a great experience for us on a glorious trip to India!

It is a nice and good hotel,in a quite residential district, but too far from the centre. If you want to go for a walk or a restaurant you need a car.
The restaurant and the breakfast of the hotel are very good, staff helpful.A small swimming pool on the roof is quite confortable

The decor and room furnishing has a very fine personal attention of managements taste and understanding. It really gives a feeling of traditional Indian Royalty in a relatively very small area. Memorable short stay.

Room Tip: A real India royal stay.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights during our Golden Triangle Tour. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were friendly, making you feel part of the family. Beautifully decorated, authentic rooms welcome you and remind you what an interesting part of India you are in. There's a pool for cooling off and a restaurant on the roof which is a lovely setting for a nice meal after a hectic day sight seeing. The buffet breakfast has everything you want including an omelette station. I would most certainly stay here again in a heart beat. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Eric greeted us, a group of 13 from all over the US. We had just come from a large party and welcomed the beautiful environment of Shahpura House. Though we didnt stay there long, the staff was very helpful and always accomodating. We ate the included breakfast which hosted a variety of indian and continental options. Thank you for the memories.

Beautiful building tucked away up a side street in Jaipur. We stayed 2 nights as part of an organised tour of India. The building is decorated in intricate paintwork with huge brass urns placed in the corridors here and there. Our bedroom was lovely and had a lovely balcony overlooking the swimming pool. Pool looked nice but there was only 6 sun beds so you would have to be quick to get one. Although we did not use it there is a spa which is very reasonably priced. Think it was about £17 for a back and shoulder massage. The food was excellent and the dining room beautiful. The whole plea was just how I wanted a hotel in India to look.
Although I did not get his name he said he was the guest manager?. Anyway look out for him and that is not in a good way. I have never in my life been asked for a bigger tip but I was that day. Very cleverly done actually as after I handed him R50 note he asked if I had a R100 note which he took. My own fault I should have grabbed it back. During the rest of the day he kept asking if we wanted the money back sand asked us not to go onto trip advisor and say about the money!
The roof top restaurant was lovely and the food good. There was live entertainment on both nights. It was very loud and went on till 9pm. Both nights were the same which was a pain as you could not hold a conversation during your meal.
Our bedroom was directly under the restaurant so the noise at night was a bit disturbing as people moved their chairs. Also noisy as the tables were moved and set up during the day.
Wonderful place to stay in all aspects.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms under the rooftop restaurant.

Our stay in this hotel, april 11-13 was part of an organised trip throughout India and Nepal.
The place truly was the former residence of a Maharadja, beautifuly converted to a more than comfortable hotel. Mr. Erik's welcome makes you feel like a king! Great and traditional service. Excellent food. Nice swimming pool with a pool Side terrace for a lovely diner. An Oasis in a city of more than two million citizens! Definately worth a visit! Don't expect much of the vicinity, but taxi's and in our case our driver, can take you to all the interesting places never more than an hour drive away. A must-do: see a Bollywood movie at the Raj Mandir Cinema.
