What a lovely spot. We arrived with a family of 5 and the very friendly owners gave us connecting rooms with our children! There are only 9-11 rooms available, but this is a charming hotel with a lovely garden/pool area where you can sit and relax or have a cooked to order meal whenever you want! Also, this is an eco friendly hotel, trying their best to help with "green" policies.
I would highly recommend this oasis to anyone coming to Jaipur!

traveled in mid march...

as recommended by a frequent flier friend... and as highly recommend by our fellow trip advisor users.... the five of us (including ranger 8 -written below) decided to venture into the outskirts of the old city to stay at jas vilas... we were immediately greeted by jitu (hotel manager) with a warm welcome (which was much greatly received after taking a turbulent domestic flight out of HYD ; ) ).... tho we were a bit concerned that we checking in too soon.. (think we arrived at the hotel around 9amish)... jitu was more than accommodating... they even did your laundry and get it back to you that evening!

rooms: beautifully decorated with a rustic country feel but with modern conveniences... it's said that you can tell how clean the restaurant is by the upkeeps of their bathrooms and well, jas vilas has one of the most immaculate bathrooms i've seen in india:D... also had US compatible outlets!

food: we usually had our breakfasts at the hotel and ate elsewhere in the city... it usually comprised of 2 eggs of ur choice ( as ranger8 had said.. get the omelett!! ), fruit, cereal, warm toasted bread, juice, tea/coffee...

ambience: beautiful garden adorned with exotic flowers... (i'll try to post some more pictures when i get the chance!)

in short... if your looking for a retreat from the busyness of the city... jas vilas is the place for you.... happy travels!

We've been traveling in India for three weeks now. We've done the expensive hotel thing, we've done the guest house, we've done the family run hotels, we've done it all. I'd say that Jas Vilas has been the best experience of them all.

We were a little nervous about checking in actually - our guidebook (Lonely Planet) said it only has nine rooms (i think they may have expanded as it looks to be more than 9 rooms). Anyway, we arrived at 5am on a train from Jaisalmer, and we asked them to have our rooms ready if at all possible as we knew we'd be a bit tired. With only nine rooms, we thought the chances of that were low. But when we got there, the night watchman let us in, put us in rooms, and allowed us to get some sleep - which the management had assured us would happen if the rooms were free. We were so thankful for their generosity in allowing us in in the middle of the night.

We could have been sold on this place at that point alone. But the staff is just great - as the reviews say they are - and it really does feel like home. It's not fancy, but it's clean, the bathrooms are pretty big, there is a nice breakfast room and a garden, the laundry is inexpensive and fast, and a pool, which we didn't go in but looked very nice. We also had dinner at the hotel after one long day, and I found the buffet quite tasty, with veg and non-veg options. There are also computers and wireless Internet.

Go stay there if you like smaller, family-run places, we had a very nice time.

Tastefully decorated, clean haveli (large family home) converted to a homely hotel, equipped with most modern amenities (cable TV, wi-fi, hot water, AC). The rooms and the bath are a treat. Food is above average. Safe place with warm friendly staff.

Downsides are the lack of room service and 24hr bell desk/concierge. Also don't provide water in the rooms (thought that was a standard?) !

Definitely worth more than the price!
