“Good budget Hotel”
Reviewed 28 March 2012

Good budget Hotel with spacious but basic rooms and friendly staff. All the ceilings are hand painted and very Indian, a real treat to see There's a lovely garden to sit and have your meals in but unfortunately it is let down by the restaurant only having a small vegetarian menu and no booze licence. But in saying all this we would stay there again.

We stayed three nights in this hotel. It was very amazing. It´s a quite place where you can relaxe after busy sightseeing trips. The personal is very friendly and helpful. Actully i liked this place more than any other and i hope i will come back one time. I like also to thank the personal there very much the took care for my deaf friend after i had to leave. Without any problems they arranged anything for him and tryed to feel good at any time.

We stayed at Anuraag Villa for four nights and found it a lovely place to return to at the end of each busy day. The building is modern but has character with lovely painted ceilings and floors and a nice garden. The staff were very helpful and friendly, changing our towels and sheets each day. The rooms (we stayed in two as they upgraded us for two nights as one of their more expensive rooms was available) were clean spacious and nice, we booked the non-AC double room with ensuite, it was very reasonable and had everything we needed, hot water shower, sit down toilet, plus some we didn't but turned out to be very nice, such as a TV with lots of movie channels! The breakfasts were nice.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. We found the hotel very clean and in a quiet area, but minutes from everywhere in a rickshaw / tuk tuk.
The staff were extremely nice and very helpful. The courtyard garden is very pretty and with a cold drink in hand, you can almost forget you are in India.

We got in at midnight as the train was delayed coming in. We were exhausted and pick up was appreciated as didn't want to be hassled at that time of the night. Check in was easy and when we got to our room, it was spacious, clean and it looked like the photos in Trip Advisory. When we woke up, breakfast in the garden was lovely... We are still in the midst of our stay at this hotel and could not wait to write this review. Staff always smiling and truly, can't fault this place. Another great find from Trip Advisory...:)

This was the best place we lodged in India (granted it was reflected in the price, but it's actually incredibly reasonable given the amenities). The amenities include nice hot Western showers and toilets, big comfortable beds, currency exchange at the front desk, attentive and helpful staff, pick-up from the airport (even very late at night) and an Eden-like garden in the back where you can also order from the delicious restaurant, which boasts a very ample menu and homemade Indian food (with a few more ecclectic options). On a hot day try the kesar pista ice cream (saffron, cardamom, and pistachio!) or shrikhand (chilled sweet strained yogurt with saffron and cardamom and some colorful little toppings like dried fruit and pistachio pieces). We visited during Holi and the hotel provided dyes for everyone to enjoy, as the festival can be a bit of a nuissance in the city (especially for women). The hotel guests and staff all participated and by the afternoon everyone was colorful and smiling, as well as dancing to live music provided by local musicians who stopped into the garden to play. There are always cars available at the hotel for rides into town, tours, etc., although prices are usually cheaper if you walk out onto the street, where you will find plenty of tuk-tuks, bikes, etc. The ride into the middle of the city is fast and scenic, with lots of things to look at along the way. Being outside of the center in this case is a plus in my opinion, and I'm speaking as someone who tends to enjoy being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle--it's nice to come home to a hot shower and a peaceful garden when you've been traveling India!

This was probably the best all-round value proposition we stayed at in India. Very helpful and eager to please staff. Nice and very handy restaurant in the garden - the garden being the real gem of the hotel. Free wifi was great - if a little temperamental. Complimentary pickup from the station was a really nice touch that puts other hotels we encountered to shame. Overall this is the best place within a price range up to double its room rates that we came across in the golden triangle.

Small things to work on:
Level of English spoken by the staff could be better (ie some had really none)
The puppet show in the garden in the evening was subject to a hard sell - this is the last thing the guests need after a day in town. We ended up eating indoors to avoid pressure pressure and the followed us inside to sell it to us ...
