Over the last 10 years I have visited Jaipur more than 15 times and stayed in 10 different Hotels. This ranks high in my preference list Now. I traveled by road, with family and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Sharing the space with its more distinguished cousin , Rambagh Palace , the stay there was a steal. Spacious rooms, Excellent Service , reasonably good breakfast , its a pocket-friendly Taj affair. I will love to go back again. Just one word of advice , try to have lunch and Dinner elsewhere , Jaipur in any case has plenty of options .

Room Tip: Opt for swimming pool facing rooms

Stayed from 12th Sept to 14th Sept. while away on a busy trip.
If one is going to be extremely busy with no time to enjoy the property then SMS is the best bet. Neat Well maintained centrally located. Well maintained Rooms with a good service.
It gives almost all 5 Star Room benefits.
We used to leave in the morning & came in late and found the Rooms very good.
Large with good facilities
Well maintained lawns and a great Convention & Function area.
A great place for Conventions & Social functions !!
Weak point was they had just one resturant which becomes monotonous !!
This was my 2nd stay here everything was same excepting that this time they were short on some supplies !!
But overall was a good stay !!

Room Tip: New Block is Good

Stayed at this hotel in April 2012. We booked a suit which was quite luxurious and the price paid for it was quite value for money. If we compare with the nearby Rambagh hotel, it is just a fraction of price . The suite was big , spacious and the decor was quite elegant. The hotel staff was amazing and they sent us a surprise gift .
The hotel is centrally located if we take the extended city in consideration. Overall, would recommend the hotel

This hotel serves its purpose rather well whether you are on a business or an action packed touristy trip.

The rooms were clean and large, although the TV was a bit outdated. The bathroom was pretty large too. The hotel had very well maintained lawns.

What was the most striking about the hotel was the excellent service and courteousness of the staff. They custom-made food and the breakfast spread although not huge was very tasty.

Guests at the hotel also had access to the gardens and restaurants of the Rambagh palace and the staff even got in touch with the staff at the Rambagh palace to give us a little tour of the place.

Its not a hotel where you can just stay indoors all day and relax but is excellent to rest one's tired legs after a day of running around.

This is not really a hotel but a conference centre in what was originally the servant’s quarters of the Rambagh Palace, which is now a very luxurious hotel. The large rooms were furnished in faded splendour which looked as if they had been left by the British when they left India. We had a balcony, a sitting area and our huge bed had a good supply of pillows and cushions. The staff were friendly and helpful and even filled the swimming pool when we requested to use this. We used the laundry service which was cost effective and efficient. The dining room offered a choice of buffet or ‘a la carte’. We treated ourselves to a meal at the Rambagh Palace which was a very special experience and the staff at SMS made all the arrangements for us. The only drawback was the lack of any social area like a lounge or a bar.

SMS is indeed a guest house. It comprises of a series of room on either sides of a corridor. One series of rooms overlook a small well-maintained garden and the other on to the restaurant.
This is inside the premises of the Rambagh Palace but the guests from SMS are not happily welcome in Rambagh Palace. There is practically nothing to do in the hotel. The restaurant is very basic space with great food.
We would recommend this probably for a business trip when you mostly need to spend the night in a large comfortable and clean room. This probably would be deal during summer in off-season when you get a good price!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the garden and the pool. Rooms on the other side are even more boring!

Well situated and benefitting from adjoining the gardens of the Rambagh Palace hotel next door. However, though the staff are very pleasant, they are rather chaotic.

If you need to change money, you will be accompanied to the Palace - worth doing. Additionally, as guests of the SMS, you can dine next door. There are three choices: a train in the grounds which several on our tour enjoyed, the continental dining room or the gold palace (Indian food). We opted for this as a treat and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a minimum spend to deter those just wishing to 'nosey'. The meal for 2 cost £60 but was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.
