We will revisit India just to meet the most gracious hosts at Barwara Kothi. They do everything imaginable and even beyond imagination to make you feel at home. they took excellent care when one of us had health issues.

The place is immaculately maintained and the pleasant stay makes you nostalgic.

We loved our stay here! This was one of the best places we stayed at in India, great property, good service, very relaxing and royal. They have a beautiful garden and beautiful rooms. We were quite sad that we stayed here only for a day. Great value for money.

This place was simply wow. The place is very well maintained and all the artefacts kept in the property gives one a very royal feeling.

We had gone to Jaipur to attend a friend’s wedding and then decided to stay for a couple of days and visit places in and around Jaipur. I zeroed in on this Home Stay "Barwara Kothi," and I must say I made a great choice and moreover my wife was very impressed with the place (what more can one want :-)).

The room was very well maintained, and everything in the room and for that matter the whole property was so calm and serene, that at one point of time we were thinking of staying within the property and not venturing out. My wife loved the way everything was done up in such a simplistic yet awe inspiring way. The room had a big balcony overlooking a garden and we really enjoyed having our morning tea there.

The breakfast was good but surely some more variety can be added to suit Indian taste. We didn’t have dinner at the place, but saw other guests dining. The ambience was really good and the food smelt awesome. So we did miss having dinner there. Next time maybe.

The hostess was extremely helpful in guiding us about the places to visit and shop around. She personally came to us while we were having breakfast and enquired about our stay and if we needed any help. That really added to the personal touch.

The only problem with the property is that near a railway track and if you are not a sound sleeper, you might have difficulty in getting a good night sleep. Having said that, I will definitely recommend this place to everyone visiting Jaipur and in fact I myself would love to stay at the property again.

We had travelled across India from the far North West with a variety of stops on the way, a hectic journey. We were looking for a stay in Jaipur that would revitalise us as well as inform.
Depali's welcome at Barwara Kothi was reassuring. The lovingly cared for garden creates an excellent surrounding and our room, accessed through the garden, was spacious and furnished to a high standard. The small veranda a good place to relax. The house was very clean, tastefully and interestingly decorated in line with it's history.
During our travels the transport we had experienced had at time been challenging, the transport recommended by the Barwara Kothi was trouble free.
For our 2 night stay we ate in. Food is pre-ordered and ready on time. We were very satisfied with the standard of food and the service.
we would certainly use this 'Home Stay' again for it's ambiance, proximity to central Jaipur and price.

Room Tip: The room ground floor at the back and accessed through the garden very peaceful.

This place was charming. Not for those wanting 5 star but in my opinion much nicer. Run by the beautiful and helpful Deepali and her mother-in-law. Comfy rooms with very comfortable beds, very clean and tastefully decorated. Reasonably priced near the city and with good recommendations for driver, eating out and where to shop. We ate in one evening and the food was delicious. Would want a room at the back of the building next time as the road does get noisy at around 6 am. But I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Having travelled to more than 40 countries in all continents except Antartica, I can say this is one of the most extraordinary, interesting and satisfying hotels I have ever stayed in. I recommend it very strongly to anyone going to Jaipur. I picked it on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews because we were trying to find a smallish hotel with character and a personal touch. But what we found went far beyond our expectations. First, as the other reviews point out the facilities are excellent for this sort of boutique hotel or guesthouse. The service is excellent. The breakfast and dinner are excellent. Mrs. Singh, who is in charge, gives it her own touch of class. But it was really the ambiance and history of the house that made it so extraordinary to us, and stimulated our interest in Jaipur and its place in the history of modern India. The hotel guide indicated that this house was built by the Raja of Barwara in the 1940s and it was where he had "lavish parties" and brought up his four children, one of which if I remember right still owns the hotel. The hotel is furnished very tastefully in a style which is not overdone but fits with this history. But most interesting of all, the house is full of family mementos and the walls covered not only with photos of the Barwara family but also of the Maharaja of Jaipur's family. We learned that the Raja and Maharaja played polo together and were close friends. We were particularly interested in a couple of sets of these photos: one showed the antique car collection of the current owner, and we were greatly amused to see that it included a 1956 Chevrolet which was the most common car of our childhood in the U.S. The notion that this car was now considered an antique by such an ancient Indian family seemed ironic indeed. The other set of photos that made us curious contained pictures of one beautiful woman from youth to old age. This turned out to be the late Maharani of Jaipur. So then when we went to the fort at Jaipur and looked through the gift shop we were very interested to find an autobiography of this woman, who lived a life which is beyond most people's imagination. She grew up in a palace with 500 servants, went to England regularly through much of her life, hobnobbed with the British royal family (her husband played polo with Prince Philip), went to Spain where her husband was India's ambassador while back home she hosted not only Queen Elizabeth but also Jacqueline Kennedy as first lady, then ran successfully for the Indian parliament, ran afoul of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and was sent to jail during the Emergency of the 1970s and then returned to a quieter existence. All in all her life is an absorbing account of the transition from India in the time of the British Raj with its princely states to the trials and sucesses of independent India as the world's largest democracy. So you see how much more you can learn about a locality and its personalities if you stay in a hotel with history and character than if you stay in one of the international class hotels which look and feel pretty much the same from city to city and country to country.

Room Tip: Not sure what the other rooms were like. Ours was everything we could want.

I have to say it is quaint, comfortable and they really look after you as a host does their guest in their home. Location is great as it is around 5 to 10 minutes drive to the main city. It is near a busy junction but with reviewers who have commented about noise, you will find this everywhere in india. The home experience and the great service outweighs any cons.
