“Peaceful and Relaxing”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We stayed at Barwara Kothi early May and were pleasantly surprised with the property and the people who run it. After a hot and hectic touristy day it was an absolute pleasure to be back to the serene and quiet atmosphere of the Kothi. The dietary restrictions of my six year old were taken care of and I felt I was living at an extended home. The owner and staff were very helpful with suggestions to shop as well as all our requests. We ate in one day and were served a well cooked simple homemade meal which was a relief after the restaurant food we were having. Our room had beautiful colonial furniture and had a balcony attached where we enjoyed our early mornings and late evenings. This is definitely going to be where I'll be staying next when visiting Jaipur.

Booked 2 rooms and stayed with family in April 2014. While the name exudes perceptions of a royal rajasthani palatial mansion, the place is actually a bungalow with rooms being let out. We were told by one of the staff that the owners were linked to the royal family of Jaipur in some manner. Nonetheless, the rooms & sleep quality are quiet below par and the breakfast is just about okay. We opted out for the dinner since it was priced too high. Being located on a main road, the street noise is unavoidable. Since the property was originally meant for residential purposes, multiple car parking is an issue. We had to park our car outside the property gates.

For the price being charged, I'll recommend other options are worthwhile to be explored.

Dear Guest,
Thank You for posting a review. Our property is located on a plot of 2000 square yards and does qualify as a mansion and not a bungalow. It is a colonial mansion built in the late 1940s and is definitely not a HAVELI. We are very clear on this fact on our website too. Rather than going in for faux furniture and small rooms we have kept the property very true to its inherent nature. The rooms are relatively large and some have nice big balconies attached to lounge in. The furniture and fittings are on the same lines too.
Ours is a heritage homestay. We do not claim to be a four or five star property. The breakfast served is hearty and wholesome with eggs to order, tea/coffee, cornflakes, muesli,a selection of juices, preserves ,honey, bread, cut and uncut fruits, sprouts, homemade bread and an Indian supplement like paratha or poha. The food served is homemade and of good quality the same that the family partakes.
Our parking takes about 5-6 cars including two of our own. In case there are more it is on a first come first parked basis.

The location is quite bad and very noisy. We have just eaten breakfast once and it was expensive and bad. There are plenty of guesthouses and hotels which are less expensive and much better. You don't feel welcome and i can't recommend at all.

Dear Guest,
Thank You for posting the review.
The location is quite central and has easy access to most tourist sites as well as restaurants. The railway station and the bus station are closeby too.
Breakfast is wholesome with eggs, toast, preserves, juices, bread, cut and uncut fruits, tea/coffee, hot/cold milk, varieties of cornflakes and muesli and Indian supplements. It is definitely not comparable to what you would eat in a five star in terms of variety or price. But it is comparable to what we have seen served in the homestays abroad.
Our front rooms have sound proof double glass Fenesta windows to block out the noise.
Warmth and service is what we take pride in. Incase a service member of our family slipped on the same we would apologize for that.
All the very best.

I would highly recommend Barwara Kothi if you want to experience a typical Rajasthani home as suppose to your usual run of the mill 5 star hotels. Barwara Kothi is conviniently located to many highlights of Rajasthan, the owner and hostess of this lovely bungalow is very gracious and full of information on what can be done in Rajasthan.

very cozy and authentic colonial house. It's a simple place with great attention for details that make your stay very comfortable. There are few rooms (I think 8), a nice garden and people are still living in a part of the house but you barely notice it. Food is also incredibly tasty there. A bit pricey but you pay what you get, so overall a good value for money.

Thank you TA for this wonderful find. It is a beautiful and gracious home situated in a quiet part of the city- yet convenient to the sights. Our room was beautiful, with an enclosed verandah. There was tea and coffee and an electronic safe. The bathroom was modern with a great shower.
After a long day of sightseeing, it was just fantastic to come back to such comfort, and spotlessly clean rooms. And the wi-fi was pretty decent!
Breakfasts were healthy and wholesome if a tad boring- you might miss a cheese plate or some cold meats. But that said, there was plenty to eat!
We ate our evening meals across the road at Spice Court- delicious, convenient and very reasonable.
I would love to return to Jaipur and this is where I'd stay.
We called them directly to book and got a really good rate!

This small hotel with only eight rooms greeted us so kindly and friendly , also extremely helpful with recommendation , as if staying in your own house. Rooms, large, gushing hot water, excellent wifi , a lovely simple meal supplied at short notice . A relief to be little further away from the bustling noise of Jaipur, very easy to get to .Being my first visit to India, where there are so many wonderful surprises , this is one of them , congratulations I will be back and would highly recommend it to every traveller.
