“Awesome Vintage experience...”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

When I stepped in to chennai, I didn't have an idea where to stay. When I entered reception, I felt I had gone back to 80s. As I asked to see the room,I got the assistance within seconds, and obviously was impressed. And room was pretty decent, spacious and clean. If you are looking for five star facilities go for any other hotels, but this hotel gives u an awesome Vintage experience, very homely. And I was late for breakfast, but still the people in the restaurant served Us very pleasantly, and the breakfast buffet is fabulous. Am very happy about Palmgrove. Its worth a smile on my face, always when I think about that chennai trip. . . :)

I had stayed here for 1 night inorder to attend US Visa interview. I had a bad experience ,received calls to my extension at midnight for all wrong reasons,Mattress and bedsheets were rotten ,FrontDesk can hardly speak english.Food is average not so great.
Only plus is, it is near to consulate, almost walk able and takes 10 mins.

The food in the Restaurant is very good. Unlimited thali is fantastic. Very tasty and filling. There is good breakfast and dinner also. Snacks very tasty.
Hotel rooms are not very clean. Maintenance is poor. The reception is also not very modern.
Located in a very good place, nearer to many business and shopping areas and very near US Consulate. If you want to stay in the heart of the city this is the right place.
Enjoy your food.

I reserved the rooms over the phone. Paid ₹2500 per day and ₹675 per extra bed. This hotel is really really old and dirty. The towels were bleached so badly that they had become crispier than the masala dosas that I ate there. Toilets were stained. Walls looked uneven like they had concealed a dead body in them. If you recall the movie 100 days ! There are many other hotels in the same are where you get more value for your money. Please stay away.

This hotel is in need of an upgradation, both in terms of furniture & overall ambiance. As we entered, it felt like the 1970s, with a large but untastefully furnished reception area, the furniture seemed atleast 50 years old. The rooms are big but again clumsily furnished, not so clean either. Food was ok, breakfast is complimentary. Has good parking space. Definitely won’t prefer to stay here anytime I go to Chennai again.

This hotel of yester years has a old world charm with lot of space around. It has quite a bit of lung space and a good vegetarian restaurant at medium prices. The dining hall has been refurbished and the food is good and serves nice vegetarian food. The meals are sumptuous at around 145 rupees. The staff may not be very sophisticated but they serve you nice food with sumptuous quantity. There is sufficient parking space.

The rooms need some refurbishing. It is comfortable if you do not have a flashy mind set. It is within walking distance of the American Consulate and Gemini flyover and Anna salai(mount road) and not far from Chennai Central Station and Egmore Station. The Airport is also accessible from Anna Salai.

Palmgrove is a quaint hotel frozen in time by about 40 years. Nevertheless, for mere 203 bucks one can have great buffet breakfast. The hotel provides fruit juice, two types of fruits, bread toast with butter/jam, pongal, kesri bath, upma, idli-vada, dosa, tea/ coffee. Consistently good taste is maintained. Good restaurant to patronise frequently.
