Owner description: Originally started with a more serious conservation point of view, Crocodile Bank is now the weekend spot for a fascinating day of herpetology. For the kids, it’s a special treat to see large crocs spend the day languorously by the water. The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology also allows adults to volunteer and gain hands-on experience in the field.

This was quite a nice little place that is worth a visit just to see the many different types of crocodiles they have to see. The staff are very passionate about their crocodiles and working on programs to help the endangered species survive in the wild.

I have read lots of review about this place , everyone is complaining this place is poorly maintained. I would like to inform readers before commenting such you should read about Crocodiles. This place is made like natural inhabitant of crocodiles. If you read the details written across the park you will come to know crocodiles do not live in clean & clear water. People cannot expect crocodiles in swimming pool like environment. Take your time read the notices you will definitely enjoy. My bad luck that the snake show was closed on that day. You must see that also.

On our way to Mahabalipuram, our driver stopped at the Crocodile Bank. The place is not so attractive as it is poorly maintained. There is no proper parking for the vehicles. Lots of street vendors and beggars welcome you at the gate. Very old looking entrance. But if you are a reptile lover, you will have a feast by seeing hundreds of crocodiles. All looks so tired and sleeping as if not fed for sometime. There is a snake park also near the entrance. 30 minute visit is not a waste of time, but they can improve a lot to make this place more attractive.

An interesting outing although I would not have chosen to go if left on my own. The crocs are fascinating, but look out for the many birds that have made the zoo their home, like egrets and kingfishers. Also worth a visit is the snake show, although seeing these creatures in captivity is sad.

A pleasant Sunday drive led us to the Crocodile Bank. A wonderful place for kids. There is also a section for snakes where you can see a demo of the venom being taken from snakes.
Apart from this, we can view a wide variety of crocodiles. There is a display tank where you can view the croc swimming in water. This was a wonderful thing to watch

A great place to visit with kids.
