I stayed at the Hilton Chennai for 1 day while on a short business visit and I loved it. It is located quite close to the airport, no more than a 20 minute ride and was literally next door to the office I was visiting so very convenient for my visit. There's a metro line thats being constructed right outside the hotel so that can be a bit of an eyesore but India is a developing country and there is no escaping construction anywhere you go.
I dont know how old the hotel is, but certainly everything from furniture, finishing to fittings all gave the look of being pretty new and luxurious. The check in and out process was very smooth and the staff on duty were generally very courteous and polite. My flight into Chennai got late and I only reached the hotel around 11 when their restaurant was about to close so the only option left was the 24 hour in room dining, which was served quite elegantly and the food was quite tasty as well.
The room was big, tastefully furnished and the bathroom was huge with modern fittings. The pool on the rooftop looks great and the bar next to it would be quite good for a drink in the evening when the weather is nice. The breakfast spread was very good and Vadivel looked after me well during breafkast. The south Indian filter coffee is a must try if you havent done that before. I did not try the gym but gather from other reviews that it could be bigger and perhaps thats something management are already working on.
I will certainly stay again if in Chennai - definitely recommended.
