Location:
Well connected to different parts of Chennai. 1 minute walk from Chennai Egmore station. Corner plot, visible from station.

Reception:
Helpful staff. Check in and check out was hassle free

General Service Staff:
Extremely cordial. Were available to do the necessary chores as requested.

Rooms:
Good but not great. The sofa has light stains on them; was replaced on request. Bed linen had spots and was replaced on request. Some lights were not working in the room which were replaced on request. Bathroom door handle was malfunctioning and was replaced on request.
However, room ambience was good with mirrors above the bed to improve the aesthetics. Had a sofa, setee, television, electric kettle and coffee, tea sachets. Electronic locker provided for safekeeping of expensive items. Good view of the city from the higher floors. Bed mattresses are soft and comfortable. Switch on bedside for temperature control and No Disturb sign which is convenient.

Room Service
Not available at night. Had to call up reception for service.

General experience:
Fairly clean room and bathroom. Separate shower enclosure with good fittings and toilette. Newspapers provided in the morning. Overall good experience, especially if you get good discounted rates.

Swimming Pool & Spa:
Not used.

Dining facilities:
Not used.

Room Tip: Choose rooms which do no face the railway track. Would be quieter. Check the room quality for any mo...

Rooms are clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast is also good. For 2800 plus taxes for single occupancy is worth bcoz it is located opp to Egmore railway station. But the bathroom not upto expectation. Its not clean if the bathroom is clean then the hptel is worth to stay. But I recommend you people to stay for 1 night.

This place is very near to Egmore railway station. But they charge Rs. 3,500 for single occupancy and Rs. 4,000 for double. In case you want internet you need to pay Rs. 200 per hour and Rs. 500 for 24 hours. I expected a good service but that also disappointing. The room is not at clean and washroom has plenty of cockroaches. Towels are torn. This is a nice place and ideally located but the management is poor.

Bang opp. to Egmore railway station is this tall standing building, the Fortel Hotel. The best part of this hotel is the 24hrs. check-in. I checked in around 11:30 p.m., but even at that time, the check-in was smooth. Was directed to my room swiftly.

The room offered to me was on the 4th floor. Quite a big room and a very cozy bed.

The staff is always ready to help you with a big smile :) on their face. I would like to extend my special thanks to Ms. Rekha who is always ready to help with a big smile on her face.

Rooms are regularly cleaned.

The MIXX bar is a very good place to hang around and very reasonable too. A pitcher costs you flat Rs.600.00 all inclusive along with munches. Thumbs up.

The only concern which I felt is the breakfast part. It is not necessary that all the guests visiting are from South India. There might be guests arriving from difft. parts of the country and the world with difft. tastes. The breakfast spread majorly concentrated on the South Indian dishes. There was no option of continental dishes at all. If guests are staying for a day or tow, then it doesn't matter. People doing a long stay, it really matters a lot, cauz, after a certain period the menu becomes boring.

A suggestion, if the hotel can add a couple of continental dishes like, chicken sausages or anything else, might really help.

Otherwise, its bingo. :)

Room Tip: Do not take rooms which are road facing as the station is bang opposite. People might have problem s...

The only reason I have not rated this hotel as 'terrible' is that for some people, its location next to Egmore Railway Station will be an advantage. Otherwise everything about it is,well terrible. The lobby and rooms smell damp. The rooms are spacious but have a depressing feeling with stained sheets and upholstery. There is nothing in the room... no iron, no footwear, no refrigerated stuff, poor quality soaps and gels. The staff is well-meaning with bearable breakfast. But overall at the price it charges, its truly disappointing.

I am frequent traveler and have been in many hotels so am good judge, but I have just decided to start review. This hotel, Fortel offered me a great expereince from top to bottom.
The rooms are especially clean and light. The hotel also in good location and was convenient because it was close to city center. The hotel staff were pleasant and co-operative and offered kind words.
The food was very good part of my stay at Fortel because it was very tasty. Breakfast buffet was also tasty. I will return soon to Fortel, next time in city.

Room Tip: Train station facing ones good
