A stone's throw from Besant Nagar beach in south Chennai, it is in a very accessable location. The eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi located in four elevations of the temple, Lakshmi narayana, Guruvayurappan, Dhanwantari and Ganesha are the main dieties. Each form of the Goddess Lakshmi is associated with a basic reuirement of every human being - knowledge, wealth, prosperity, progeny, bravery, food and success. Though well frequented by the local poulace and tourists, the upkeep of the temple is far from satisfactory. An overall feeling of sanctity which one gets while visiting a temple is missing. The money hungry priests prod you for more contributions even as they recite their slokas or carry out their work - be vary. Not a very old temple per se, but maybe a unique one dedicated to Lakshmi.
