We trusted Leela with handling a very special night before we left for our honeymoon. Right from the moment we reached Leela, just the feel of the place with its grand entrance, the lobby and the fantastic Deluxe room absolutely left us bowled over.

Coming to the room, we stayed in a Deluxe room that went for INR 9000. I thought that was excellent value for what was on offer. The room's main highlights were the beatiful theme, appointments, the soothing spa music once you enter and the gorgeous bathroom (there are speakers inside the bathroom that I thoroughly enjoyed). The hot bath inside the bathroom and the spacious shower area were all perfect for a cozy night with my wife. The view from the room was overlooking the Hotel swimming pool and was fantastic.
The morning breakfast was complimentary and honestly was one of the finest spreads for a breakfast that I have ever come across. The variety (South Indian, North Indian, Chinese, American, French) and quality of the food was staggering. Service thanks to Mr. Prabhu at the Spectra was outstanding too.

Highly recommended for any occasion. Great job Leela folks!

Room Tip: You cant go wrong with the City view or Sea view!

When traveling to Chennai for business, I always stay at the Leela. The staff are awesome, the rooms are clean and practical and the hotel has several areas to work from. Loved it!! The restaurants really are tasty and provide a great balance of local fair with some international cuisine mixed in. The Library Bar is a great place to unwind after a long day.

I stayed at Leela Palace Chennai for 3 nights after being awed by Leela Palace Delhi, and walking out of two seeming good hotels in Chennai during my recent trip to India. I have to confess that after staying in Leela palace Delhi, I had high expectations from Chennai as it is newly built, but it fell short by a few points.

The Leela Chennai being new, definitely scores very high points for its design, look and feel, but the staff and service needs some more time to reach the standards of Delhi. I got the city view room, which in my case was the view of demolition and construction going on in the property next to Leela palace. Not an issue. The restroom was not properly cleaned before my arrival, and I checked in after 11:30 pm on the first night. So the team had plenty of time to make sure everything was in order. I had requested that the duvet be replaced with plain cotton sheet, as Chennai was very hot due to Agni Nakshatram but that was also overlooked. I had to remind the front desk twice before they could take action, which speaks a lot about the service staff and their management.

The room was very spacious and well designed. The ample spaced closets add to the comfort but the finishes in general give you a feel that the hotel was opened in a hurry and there was still some work left to do. I'm sure in a few months, this might be one of the best hotels in Chennai, but it's not there yet. The overall outdoor property otherwise is excellent, and the moment you enter the front lobby, it does give you the feel of a palace experience. The Library Blu bar had a good selection of drinks and the ambiance is great. So a little ways to go!

Excellent Hotel with a great view. I stayed in this hotel for 3 to 4 days, the staff was very helpful, the food was amazing, everything was very well done, this is a truly 5 star luxury hotel

The only downside I found that there was no complimentary Wifi. The internet rates were pretty high. So my recommendation to the hotel staff would be that please reduce your internet rates and give complimentary wif fori 6 hours or 12 hours because nowdays Internet/Wifi is a must.

Room Tip: Take the rooms with sea view, they are pretty amazing.

My husband and I were traveling to Chennai on business for two days. We decided to book a room with the Leela Palace. What should have been a smooth process for us turned out to be an exhausting ordeal. To begin with we were quoted 21000 for two nights in a sea view room with breakfast, by a lady at the reservations. We decided we would go for it and called them back within 15 minutes of the first call to confirm our reservation. This time a male picked up at their reservation desk. He told us that the lady we had spoken to has left for the day and the price she quoted was a mistake. The 'correct' price being 26000. I protested and he said he will call back. We received a call after three hours from another lady who gave us a quote for 31000. She said the male who had interacted with was busy and this is the final price. Third call of the evening with a new price. Anyway we went ahead and booked a room at another five star property. Leela reservations kept calling us till the very day we were supposed to land in Chennai and each time the price quoted was a different figure, plus the person on call had no information regarding previous calls/callers. They need to figure this one out and be honest to the customers.

beautiful hotel for both business as well as tourist/casual stay. stayed one night on 2nd/3rd june on the way back from Mahabalipuram to Bangalore. Lovely portico, lobby and common areas. Beautifully and tastefully decorated. very friendly staff synonymous with leela. Chose a premium sea view room on 5th floor. This is a corner room with views of the ocean on 2 sides. One side has a balcony, which is locked though for safety reasons. One eye sore is a cluster of slum like settlements on the longer side of the property. This seems to be a common problem with many of the premium hotels in Chennai. Either the approaches are encroached upon by ugly roadside tea stalls and street hawking carts, or the view sides have garish views.

All in all pretty comfortable medium sized rooms with state of the art lighting and bathroom controls, premium furnishing and supplements in the room. well stocked mini bar. Good choice of restaurants as usual in the coffee shop, Chinese restaurant and the indian restaurant Jamavaar. The Leather Bar. Cudnt check out the pool, gym or the spa as it was a overnight stay. Lovely buffet spread at lunch when we checked in. Chennai room ARRs have certainly moved up compared to Bangalore in the last couple of years, while the Bangalore ARRS have decreased with a plethora of national and international chains opening up increasing the inventory.

The beds are not actually king size, while the hotel claims so. The toilet area has separate enclosures for commode and shower, and a separate sea facing tub. No opinion on the breakfast buffet since I dint partake the same.

The star hotels association should work with the local administrations and the government to better the surrounding look n feel to give a better visual appeal.

Room Tip: if you are a business traveler just for a sleep, I guess it doesn't matter. However, if you wish...
