I have been a regular to this hotel maybe twice a year since 2006. They have maintained their standards and even their food & room rates have seen only a marginal or no rise . I have 1 suggestions put sliding doors instead of shower curtain in bathroom so that water does not splash allover.

Heritage Hotel (from 1885) with absolutely modern facilities due to total renovation. Ambience is very good. Being located centrally, is a boon for business travel. the food is very good and quantity is quite sumptuous for single person. However, the service tends to be a bit slow with a lot of time taken to deliver anything ordered to Room Service or Housekeeping. Reminders need to be given for speedy delivery of orders. Overall, a good staying experience, which can be further enhanced with prompt service.

Room Tip: Nothing special to be said, all rooms are good.

this stay was better than the other years & it gets better each year. i have been staying in Harrison Hotel since 2009.
It is centrally situated to all avenues.... T Nager, the shopping malls & they have some of the most popular restaurants. the rooms are always upgraded and the staff is always accomodating.

we even had a friendly conversation with the Owner of the Hotel, who i thought was a guest. only after some talk we were led to believe she owned the hotel. Very "down to earth"

Room Tip: we were family of 4. room 517 & 519 was perfect.

It is quite centrally located, which makes it easy to get around. However, being on a main and busy road, there are no safe walks around. The hotel's fitness centre was not open in the mornings, which was inconvenient.

If you don't want to eat out, the hotel has a number of options. We did not check them out, though, as we preferred to walk around the corner and sample restaurants like Wang's Kitchen (chinese). The place also has bite choices like Pizza Hut, Cafe Coffee Day, AAB etc.

While on food, the hotel's own breakfast buffet could do with some variety though; also be nice if they offered whole (uncut) fruit.

Overall, Harrisons' was a nice stay, the staff was pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: We could not get them to give us a hard mattress, that can be a real problem if you're not used...

I had gone for the Chennai literature festival and chose this hotel for its location round the corner from the venue of the festival. Its quite pricey, and not quite good value for money - the rooms are a bit run down, and the bathrooms tiny. The staff is nice, but could not provide for a firm mattress or a phone charger when requested. The breakfast included in the room tariff is very rudimentary. The hotel has no outdoor spaces at all - no gardens, no pool, no balconies with the rooms. Stay here only for its location, otherwise there are far better options in the price range of 4-5k a night.

Located pretty much in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Chennai, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel for the price.

Whilst it lacks some of the facilities of larger more upscale hotels, the rooms and general hotel areas were clean and most things worked well.

stayed 5-6 times at this place for a single night.
forcing us to pick a month of travel if we have gone multiple times is a bit silly when writing this but anyway.

if you like sleeping late do keep in mind that the honking of traffic starts after 7am daily - at least you won't need a wake up call!
the windows are single pane and clearly not sound proof.
the daily breakfast is typical veg tamil style with some fruits / eggs on order.
the nightly rate was about rs. 3.5 k and they have a liberal checkout policy - not a hard deadline at noon like other hotels specially if you checkin late also.

depending of room availability you can request the manager to checkout upto 23 hours after checkin for single night stays.
since i often reach after 11pm that was a big bonus [which i have never used fully]
they do need an hour to clean up the room which most tamil hotels would.

despite the negative reviews i've seen here its important to set your expectations;
you are getting exactly what you are paying for.
i was impressed there was central a/c at these rates in a metro to be honest.
[i was expecting split ac in the rooms]

the bathrooms are small but have central hot water which is nice.
the white shower curtains are usually stained and the towels don't look totally white but they are probably clean...

they have 24 hr room service but could mess up an order.
its happened to me 1 in 5 times or 20% approx.
one time they even insisted they had no brown / wheat bread!

but again, at these low rates you kind of have to accept small defects in the service.
not suitable for couples or romantic getaways obviously!
great if your office / meeting is nearby...
