My wife and I were looking forward to staying at this hotel, having had excellent experiences at two other Starwood hotels: Maratha in Mumbai and Gardenia in Bangalore. However, this hotel proved to be a disappointment on more than one count. The lobby and the hallways were dark. The room had old fittings: the phone in the bathroom fell off the wall when answering a call. The hot water kettle did not work. The "health club" was segregated into two separate rooms for gents and ladies. There were no mats. The staff appeared to be unmotivated and just "getting by!"

We were told when checking in that being Starwood Platinum, we will have free beverages and free massage in the spa. However, when checking out, they charged us for everything at 5-star hotel rates.

For Rs. 14,000 per night, this was an exceedingly sub-par experience!

Hotel GLM Meridian is located in T Nagar area and is about 15 Kms from Chennai Airport. The hotel is easy to locate as it is a very tall building in that area and hotel glow sign is also there. The hotel offers very cosy and nice rooms at really affordable price. The hotel offers good food as well mainly south indian cuisines and also continental ones. The hotel also has a good bar. The service staff is helpful and good to take good care during the stay. The rooms are also nice and clean with good space. Overall a great place to stay in Chennai.

The place is good even though not well maintained. it is an ok place if you need to be in Chennai for a short overnight stay. I stayed here for a night and the place was ok so to say, i did not dare to dine in the place, and instead went out at the Kalpakka biryani house, which was an excellent find, considering that it is a small place

Second stay within a year and still a mess. The only good thing about it was the location.

Pros:

1. A good bar on the terrace. The view is good. That's it.

Cons:

Terrible service. Right from front desk to room service. Except the reception, hardly any one speaks legible English or Hindi. The waiters refuse to serve if you are not sitting at a table of their choice. Then they let some one else sit there and serve them. The entire hotel smells of stale cigarette smoke. And the ash trays outside of lifts are always over flowing with butts. Once they serve food, they invariably never come back to clear service. Leaving soiled plates in the room

Rooms are terrible except that my room had a wonderful view of some mango and coconut trees. The flush did not work and I was hoping that the white stuff on the shower stall was design rather than anything else. Hot water on tap though, which is sometimes a challenge for many Indian properties to get right. Linen is old, worn and dirty.

Food is terrible. You are better off visiting some restaurants outside. Even the breakfast is poor. Coffee is some horrid instant stuff. In Chennai you get good filter coffee in most all decent restaurants.

All in all a terrible place to stay. Old, needs to be refurbished.

I stayed in this hotel for one night only. My first impression of the hotel, while checking in was that of very average hotel and not worth the rate charged by them. Lobby was empty with just two sofas which seemed very old and the tapestry looked uncleaned for days. Lighting in the lobby was dim. The room was of decent size and clean. The toilets were not small and were clean. However both the room and toilets need to be renovated especially the plumbing in the toilet and the TV sets in the room. The room service was not what I would call good or excellent but Just average. The food was also ok. The worst part was the breakfast. The coffee shop where the breakfast was served was very small and not enough to seat guests from 44 rooms. The cutlery and crockery was very bad. The bowls for sambar and other liquid / curry dishes were of plastic and were stained. so was the large fruit bowl. The variety of dishes for breakfast was very limited as compared to many other hotels I have stayed in Chennai, with the same tariff. The only good thing about the hotel was the courteous and helpful staff. All in all a very average hotel not worth the tariff.

The place was an utter disappointment. The rooms were small, smelly, smelling of smoke and stinky!!!
the breakfast was also very disappointing.... no variety and zero in the name of service...
The kind of money charged was more compared to what the hotel had to offer. On the whole, not really recommendable to regular business travellers
