No problem with the rooms, but the staff are a bit random. Could be that we caught them at a busy time, but they seemed to be dancing around on hot coals. Anyway, OK for what it is.

The guest house have a very good location and value. Marine beach, Anna Salai and MRTS Station are situated in about 15 minutes of walking. I paid 250 rupees for a clean single room. The service was quite good.

There also were some problems. Hot water sometimes wasn't really hot, but it's still possible to take a shower. Sometimes my room was very noisy.

The guesthouse have a good view of Walaja Mosque from the rooftop.

You can take 27B bus at Pycrofts road to reach the CMBT in Koyambedu or Engmore Railway Station.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the corridors are noisy

The hotel has a twenty four hour policy which can work against you if you arrive early in the morning off the night train as I did. However, the management was very accommodating in extending the time for me for a small extra charge. I really appreciated the helpfulness and charm of the front office staff. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. It was a squat toilet, that surprised me as I have not come across one at the rate that was charged, and the tv only had local channel so I could not use that amenity. The budget room which was not that budget had a ceiling fan that worked on super speed or nothing, I sweltered in that room because the overhead was too drafty and I could not use it as well. These are not negatives just information. Travelling in India i appreciate the feeling of safety, fairly clean and some facility. This place is a good choice for the budget traveller. The transport is very expensive in Chennai, most of my rupee went on that. Most of the people are just out for your money, here they take it with a smile, I would go back if I ever went back to chennai, I would upgrade to an ac room.

Room Tip: If you don't want a headdraft, go for ac

We arrived at midnight and the owner was there. He was really nice. We were supposed to pay cash in advance for the room, but we had no cash left and the owner let us sleep there and pay the next day. The room was really clean with a fan and all the staff was really nice. We slept really well and paid only 600 INR / night. It's really a great place to stay!

One thing though: we ordered breakfast one morning from a boy of the staff, but I think the boy took advantage because we paid over 100 INR for 1 coffee and 1 tea. So just ask how much it is before you order!

stay away, stay far far away.
if dirt, mold, grime, roaches, and left over soiled underwear are your thing...go for it.
i do believe however, even if on the tightest budget, one can find a better place.
the streets, after a rainstorm, look better than this place.

We stayed 14 nights. We wanted a clean budget room in the Triplicane High Road area. The Paradise Guest House fit the bill just fine. The room with attached bath was simple, clean and reasonably priced. Not flash but good. It's fairly new and they were just finishing installing an elevator. Modern style hotel, therefore no communal charm like the old Broadlands next door, but the staff are all friendly and helpful. The main thing for us was the location, providing easy walking to local food options, Marina Beach, Mount Road, and the streetscapes/lanes either side of Triplicane High Road. Convenient for buses to most city destinations on THR, Wallajah Rd and Mount Rd. Buses in Chennai are relatively high frequency, cheap and easy to use.
