If you get to see the sunrise on a clear day, you are lucky is what they say in Darjeeling! we visited Darjeeling in April last year . while April- May are the peak months for Darjeeling and Sikkim, these months should actually be avoided for travelling to these two places as you will really have to be lucky to see Kanhendzonga as the weather is usually cloudy and it often rains in these months! Oct-Nov are better months to travel to Sikkim Darjeeling. After a week of badluck in Sikkim, good luck finally dawned upon us in Darjeeling.
3AM sharp you need to leave the hotel and start your journey towards the Tiger Hill. Thousands of people from across the World gather to have one glimpse of the the golden reflection of the Sun on the Kanchendzonga and it is truely divine!
On a clear day, you can also see the Mount Everest from the hill.
The atmosphere is very hilly so dress appropriately so as to avoid catching cold. Dont bother to take tickets for the higher floors, you will be packed behind and will have to peep out of the window to have a glimpse.
The best view can be seen from the open terrace that has the minimum fee.
the sun rise, is truely undefinable! Experience it, it would be a sight of your lifetime!
