“Sublime!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

If you get to see the sunrise on a clear day, you are lucky is what they say in Darjeeling! we visited Darjeeling in April last year . while April- May are the peak months for Darjeeling and Sikkim, these months should actually be avoided for travelling to these two places as you will really have to be lucky to see Kanhendzonga as the weather is usually cloudy and it often rains in these months! Oct-Nov are better months to travel to Sikkim Darjeeling. After a week of badluck in Sikkim, good luck finally dawned upon us in Darjeeling.
3AM sharp you need to leave the hotel and start your journey towards the Tiger Hill. Thousands of people from across the World gather to have one glimpse of the the golden reflection of the Sun on the Kanchendzonga and it is truely divine!
On a clear day, you can also see the Mount Everest from the hill.
The atmosphere is very hilly so dress appropriately so as to avoid catching cold. Dont bother to take tickets for the higher floors, you will be packed behind and will have to peep out of the window to have a glimpse.
The best view can be seen from the open terrace that has the minimum fee.
the sun rise, is truely undefinable! Experience it, it would be a sight of your lifetime!

It was terrible, getting up at three in the morning and reaching there at 4 AM and finally come back after a cup of coffee is surely not worth it... so go for Tiger Hill only if sky is clear otherwise its :(

“Very beautiful place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

One needs to leave very early...as early as 3 am to reach Tiger Hill on time for the sunrise. There is a small entrance fee for each viewing deck and the small place becomes too crowded with everyone pushing and shoving to catch a better glimpse of the rising sun.
They offer tea with the ticket. But there a no proper toilets. The one that we went to were too dirty.

“Not worth visiting!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

Tiger hill is mentioned as one of the attractions in most of itinerary to Darjeeling to see splendid sunrise with setting of first sun-ray on Kanchenjunga mountain range in far. However, due to early start around 3:30 in morning and with possibility not to see even sunrise least to see Kanchenjunga and hundreds of tourist vehicles arriving and leaving the place would make the journey difficult. I was able to see the sunrise but could not spot the mountain range. If Tiger Hill is included in your package you may want to visit it, otherwise do not plan for it, especially if you are with small children. Try to bring binocular , which I did not, it may help to spot the mountain range. Local people can be found selling tea/coffee but bring some food as you may have to leave your hotel without breakfast.
