“Jungle Blues.”

Reviewed 27 May 2013

The sanctuary is located very close to the passing National Highway, and although having a very close proximity to human settlements, it offers lush green trees and shrubs which are a magnificent sight. There is no cell phone receptivity inside the jungle and that's actually a boon, considering the environment around you. Sighting of animals is based on your luck and timing, and you really can't blame or taunt the staff for this. Best time to visit the watch tower would be early morning, between 5-6 and evenings, around 4-7. Visit this place, it's worth it.

Chapramari Wildlife Santuary located in the Dooars is best visited fro Lataguri, where there are several hotels - we stayed at the Green Lagoon. Unfortunately, despite hours of driving through the jungle we were unable to see any "Big" game.

We were alone all the time, for this easy walk in the middle of a majestic and untouched forest, the trees so huge that it was just like having a walk in the middle of a fairy tale

This sanctuary close to the Gorumara sanctuary, is another of the Dooars forests which shares all the beauty of the forests of that region. The vegetation is magnificient and it is wonderful for birdwatching as a morning's stroll can bring as many as 30 species to your tally. Unfortunately wildlife is scarce probably because of human disturbancce from a road that rings it as well as small scale depredations which has now reached non sustainable levels.
There are watchtowers which overlook a saltlick, but even here it is difficult to spot major wildlfe which one looks forward to.
However come here to enjoy the forest itself and the birdlfe. This is a very rewarding pasttime here.
