“Not very good”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2013 via mobile

This place could be so much better! It's location is ok and (if it hadn't been so misty) i'm sure the view would be great. Given the state of the cold, damp grubby rooms the doubles were over priced - we stayed 1 night and found better elsewhere. the food was pretty good though.

This hotel is very basic. The rooms are very basic, but clean, and comfortable enough. The bathrooms are actually good for this price bracket.

The hotel is for foreign tourists, and I suppose has a bit of a backpackers vibe. It is quite small and intimate. The location is quite good, and rooms on one side have very nice views of the valleys of Sikkim.

The place is really relaxed and friendly. Despite the rooms being pretty simple, I think most people would enjoy there stay here.

There is free wi -fi for guests that worked quite well, and also a cafe that serves adequate food, though you can find so many food options around Darjeeling itself also.

Rooms were around RS 400 a night when I stayed, and was adequately clean and comfortable for this price range in India.

Staff are friendly and easy going, so staying here feels very relaxed and easy.

Room Tip: Rooms on valley side have quite lovely views.

I went to Darjeeling with my friends.
We arrived there very late night so we couldn't see anything outside window.
But surprisingly, when we woke up in the morning and found snow mountain in front of our eyes.
What a wonderful scenery!!!
Delicious foods, hot water, friendly staffs, and good location!
Only one thing should be improved is..... in the middle of winter it's freezing cold,
and it seems like door and window couldn't protect cold wind to come in. we felt not so different between outside and inside ><

My brother and I stayed in a double room and paid 500 for one night. The room was large with a good view, but was so damp that the floor boards were wet. The bedding also un-washed. There was a pigeon roost just outside our window which was very noisy, and added to the room's unclean feeling.
We came to the hotel because of it's Lonely Planet review for being homely and friendly, but were extremely disappointed. My brother was very ill with a fever and vomiting, but when I asked the staff if I could get a hand to carry his bag up the stairs they outright ignored me. I also asked if I could order a black tea for him, but they told me their kitchen was closed, and only after pleading with them and explaining how sick he was did they agree to make a simple black tea (which of course I paid for).
I also bought a bottle of water from them that turned out to be unsealed; a refill rather than a clean bottle of water. Food took over an hour to prepare (which is fair enough as they cook it fresh), but was tasteless when it arrived.
All in all, the rooms dampness and dirtiness could have been overlooked if the staff had been friendly, but this place was worth 300 rupees a night maximum, not 500. The next day we (& another two guests) moved over the road to Hotel Tranquility, which was clean, friendly, with better views and only 100 rupees extra per night.

Room Tip: We had a double room upstairs on the left hand side; avoid as these rooms as they are next to the pi...

Found Tower View in Lonely Planet and due to upcoming monsoons in NE states decided to stay in Darjeeling/Tower View for 6-7 weeks....stayed in a dormity for 100rs per night and very much enjoyed the freedom to watch early sunrises and stay out late for a beer if desired...Rooms are damp as communicated in other reviews where I found incense and bleach/water in bathroom kept the room cleaner with fresh scent..Staff were great and due to my Non-veg preference did not eat often in the restaurant..Staff were very helpful when asking for maps and places to visit etc....I very much recommend Tower View...Met some great people through the dorm and other guests in double rooms

This guesthouse has so much potential - a great dining room with a nice view. It's such a shame that the staff are rude, unhelpful and uninterested.

The room itself (R450 for a double) was OK and had a really nice view, but it was very damp and the water (flush etc) stopped working half way through our stay.
Also the water pressure was terrible so we asked for a bucket and the staff member just said "no washing. R500 fine if you do laundry". Very friendly!

I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're desperate.

We paid 500 for one of the downstairs rooms (after trying a lot of other places) - the room was a fair size and the view fantastic but it's too cold and damp! We stayed one night - contrary to the other reviews you can find cheaper, it's just that the rooms can be equally rank! We stayed in 3 places and found this to be the worst of all. I hate to leave a bad review because the food was good and the people running the place were really nice. They need to review their prices or up their game - I could imagine this place being so much better! The sheets are dirty, the shower unuseable, the toilet barely flushable and it's very damp.
If you arrive in darj without booking ahead (as we did) you'll be tired, either find somewhere cheaper and accept the grot or find a cafe to leave your bags and systematically cruise the hotels - we found a nice place near the station but it's down a few lanes and with empty rooms they dropped their price from 2000 to 600 - the extra 100 took us a world away from the grot and the damp at tower view.
