“Beautiful Hotel”
Reviewed 26 June 2011

We booked this hotel for our Honeymoon and this place made that trip a memorable one. I Stayed here in October 2009, couldn't find the month in the drop down so chose July 2010.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 night and our stay was amazing. The rooms were very spacious and well lit up with all amenities available in it. The location was very nice as it was on the Mall Road and if you walk the opposite side you can view the sunset and sunrise on the Kanchenjunga Peak. The room interiors are very elegant.

The quality of food is very good, though I found it little expensive. Overall a great place to stay and have fun.

definitely impressive eye candy but more than that, it's a place that had it's own unique and quirky charm. If you want to be surrounded by hip interiors yet feel downright comfortable, this is the definitely the hotel for you. What also impressed me was their personalized and friendly service. It was never intrusive and always polite.

Mayfair property is very picturesque. Right from the entrace to the lobby, restaurant, outside seating area, passage towards garden, children play area outdoor and indoor, Ganesh temple and Shivji temple all have its unique features. They have a small SPA but very relaxing. If you happen to get up early walk up to their back entrance and this will take you oppsosite the Governor's house. Following up further is the Kanchenjunga view which is a fabulaous stretch to walk and I found many health freaks part of the Morning walkers club doing rounds of exercise early in the morning. Overall excellent stay.

I can not stress enough that this is the best hotel in all of India, save for perhaps the Taj Mahal Hotel in Bombay. Darjeeling itself is so wonderful that to want to stay at the hotel says a lot. The Service was OUTSTANDING! The hot water didn't work for the first few hours, however, the place was so fantastic that it didn't matter. The rooms were very british/rustic without feeling old and dated. The Food was the best on a 3 week journey through India. The cleaning and maintenance staff was SO friendly. Gorgeous Statues. Location was Fantastic. Again, I could blog a novella about how impressive it was here. Listed as a 3.5 star, I would give it a 5.

Stayed three nights in Darjeeling. Mayfair is a very comfortable, colonial style, luxury hotel. Nice staff, good rooms, nice suroundings. If you do not feel to take the buffet dinner, there are good options in town such as Hasty Tasty (basic but very good, freshly cooked Indian food) or the Glennary (good food, nice beer).
