"A perfect combination of a luxury & nature for a romantic holiday!
Mayfair is One of the best properties we saw in Darjeeling. The Villa itself has history to tell you and engage you within and offers a very comfortable stay. It has a great video Library, collection of old picture frames put alongside of the corridors and passages. every corner of the premise has a story to tell.
The location of the Hotel is such that it is away from the busy market but at a walk-able distance from the breath taking view of the Kanchenjunga ranges at the rear side of the hotel. best location to go for a morning and evening walks in the all day pleasant atmosphere.
Hotel also has pool table which we enjoyed playing almost all days. The rooms offer you a feel of luxury and comfort. Timber floor and wall add to the cozy feel of space.
The landscape is well maintained around the properties which provides you multiple terraces to wonder about.
The food was also good but little expensive but we enjoyed all the breakfasts. lots of variety it served.
Overall it is a well maintained place and I appreciate the efforts of the management on board and we look forward to visit it again"-- Ms. Shilpa Sawant

Room Tip: Select the room on the first floor facing the Valley. The topmost floor room view is not so great.

the rooms are lovely well looked after most things you need but I did miss not having a fridge heaters are provided in the room but no heating in the bathroom which was freezing although we did solve this problem you can have a fire made as well with no extra charge if you wont to about the food I must say I found something to eat both morning and night and really enjoyed my meals I will say not up to the normal standed of a4/5 star hotel but still nice and the staff were lovely will agree with earlier review the reception staff was never there you get the feeling that some staff have got a bit board but the ground staff keep it looking great

The place is fabulous, deserves a walk around the property. Has a view of Himalaya's from the hotel itself. The food was OK but the courteous staff made it a good experience. The rooms, the library, and numerous photo's are fabulous.

Mayfair is absolutely gorgeous. Great rooms with wooden floors and wooden ceilings. It's old no doubt but it's very well-taken care of. It's a like a woman who refuses to let age diminish her beauty. Even outside the room the property is groomed very well and you could easily spend a morning or an evening walking within the premises.
One big advice- unless critical do not eat here. There are enough options just a few minutes away on the main busy mall-like stretch. None of them are to die for but certainly better than here.
Mayfair is a lovely property in the north-east, but somehow their food does not reflect that.
It was hygienic but just not tasty.
Live here but eat elsewhere.

The Mayfair did not live up to its stellar reputation. Accommodations were fair, but more importantly, food was well below average for hotels in that part of India and service was poor. Breakfast, which should have been a sumptuous buffet, was reduced to some meager selections from an a la carte menu. Dinner was not much better. Wireless was not working, after a technician tried in vain, laboring for over a half hour. Construction next door went on into the late evening. The front desk was not well staffed. Some of this may have been due to the fact that a general strike in Darjeeling during the previous two months to lobby for independence from West Bengal had resulted in many tourist cancellations. But it doesn't explain everything below par that we experienced at the Mayfair.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view..... due to rather rainy period the view was not the optimal but still ve...

Nice hotel close to Zoo and chaurasta Market,Mall Road. Staff was caring. Breakfast and Dinner spread is lavish. Of course not as good as Gangtok Mayfair. The staff can adorn more ethnic costume and interior may also bring hilly touch found wanting. But Darjeeling is Anglicised Queen of the Hills and therefore this property was like in York or Edinburra!
