“Comfortable & value-for-money stay right ON THE MALL!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2013

We had stayed in his hotel from 29th Dec'12 to 2nd Jan'13 & the very first thing that comes to mind while saying something about this place is its strategic location and the relatively reasonable rates considering its locational advantage. Its a Tibetan hotel, managed by some very courteous & nice people.
The hotel offers comfortable rooms done up with wooden interiors, having geyser & round the clock water supply in washrooms, cable TV connection in every room, wifi services (w/o any extra charge) and room heater service (on request & extra charges).Only tea is served by them,so one has to go outside for having lunch/dinner. But,considering its proximity to almost all the major eateries of Darjeeling, getting food is not a problem at all (Glenary's,Keventer's,Kunga--these are all at a stone's throw distance). One can even get the food packed from somewhere else and then have it later, at the hotel room.
As said, the biggest advantage of the hotel is its location. So,those who want to stay near the MALL (the main place of Darjeeling) and the better mainained part of the town, this is a good choice as the main activities of this beautiful hill station & its colourful life can be seen from the hotel floor/window itself. If the sky is clear, then one can have the majestic view of the snowcapped Kanchenjungha from the Observatory Tower--which is located on the top floor of the hotel or from the garden side (on the backyard). We were lucky enough to view the unforgettable view on all the days that we had stayed there..
I would recommend rooms from 3rd floor onwards (the rooms starting with 43-48 nos.are not mall facing, but well maintained).

Some necessary info:
1) Mall being a no-driving/vehicle zone, one has to walk uphill to reach the hotel from the nearest Motor/taxi stand (located near Planter's club),but let me tell you this one-time walk is not that difficult.
2) Being an old property, the hotel doesn't have any elevator/lift,so those who have problem in climbing up stairs, should keep this in mind.
3) There is more scope for development regarding the overall maintenance & upkeep of the rooms and common areas of the hotel and also the service level.

Overall a very good place to stay at the rate, comfort and locational advantage that it provides!

We stayed 3 nights there in the king size room no 49. Interesting interior decoration in wood creates a heritage look and featured with modern amenities. From room number 49 it was 180 degree view of Himalaya. You can view sunrise from your bed too. Toilet was spacious, neat and clean.

Few things need to be improved (considering the amount they charge for the rooms) :

1. Room service is poor
2. The hotel doesn't have a kitchen (Though that's not a disadvantage considering the fact that you can have breakfast/lunch/dinner in the Caventers, Hasty Tasty, Frank Ross Cafe and/or in Glanerys etc.; all are nearby down the Mall Road)
3. The hotel charges extra for room heater.
4. The geyser was one with a smaller capacity.

Room Tip: From room number 49 you can get 180 degree view of Himalaya and sunrise and 90 degree view of The Ma...

We have stayed there during last may. It was a nice experience as room service is good, rooms & bathrooms are clean. Hotel owner and staff are very cooperative in terms of providing services. It was a good time spend there. I wish to return back there.

we stayed at the hotel for 15-16 oct 2012 , though the rooms r spacious yet they lack the aesthetics of a proper hotel.....bad bedding......poorly lit rooms [ours was a super deluxe room].........no room service what so ever.......to top it off very limited supply of hot water.......u really hav 2 ask the manager to switch on the geyser if he is available that is....... smells like an abandoned place......pricey without any reason..........
plus side: in the heart of mall road

We have stayed in this hotel recently (Oct 2012). Hotel location is very good. It's just on the mall. Rooms are hudge and it is neat and clean. Furnitures are also good. Hotel can arrange for car for sight seeing or any other facility. I have stayed in room no 36 on 2nd fllor with a clear view of Mall and market area. Staff are also very helpful. But tariff is bit higher. It starts with Rs. 1,800/- per day.

I found 2 negetive points about this hotel.

1. No restaurant facility available in the hotel. They can provide only breakfast or snacks.
2. Electrical fittings are not up to standard.

But my overall experience is very good and I will prefer to stay in this hotel if I visit Darjeeling once again.

We recently spent 3 nights at the Bellevue. The people who run the hotel are very friendly and exceedingly helpful with our travel arrangements for our trip to Sikkim (they even called ahead and arranged our next hotel!). There is a rooftop with a great view, and a nice dining room to eat breakfast in. The rooms are clean and large, but nothing fancy. A great budget choice in Darjeeling.

Prime location with nasty smell. Except super deluxe rooms others are stinking. Super deluxe rooms are great but with a higher price. We had booked deluxe rooms online and they were pathetic when we went and saw the rooms. Stinking rooms with grand old beddings and fittings.

Room Tip: only super deluxe rooms
