Have not got the option to use Metro Services for long
The fear of overcrowded compartments in Summers is a horrifying experience to use the same

However this has been the lifeline of Kolkata and fastest way to get one place to other and recently they have added some AC Compartments.

If this is handled well and maintained this is the best and cheapest mode of transport to move from one point to the other and save massive time keeping in mind that City Traffic has been hit more owing to Many A construciton at most zones

The Metro railway in the city of Kolkata is the oldest in the country and has been serving one of the busiest metropolitan cities of the country for a long time now. The metro is the first underground railway system in India and has upheld the history and heritage of the city. The route cris-crosses the city from North starting at Dum Dum (Soon from Dakshineshwar) to the southern fringes till Garia.

It is one of the most efficient, safe and quick transportation options in the city with a meager ride price. The route from Dum Dum to Tollygunje is Underground and post that it moves along an elevated line.

It is the first Underground metro railway system in India. It is the India's oldest metro railway. You can enjoy both AC and Non-AC Ride for the same fare.

It's most suited in Kolkata's sweltering heat to commute by the metro trains which are pretty reasonable and save a lot of time (of course, if it lies your way)
I traveled the route connecting Marble Palace (MG Road), Esplanade and St. Paul cathedral (Maidan). It's safe and convenient.

What better way to expeience the life of a local but to take a ride in their public transport? Good to try it for a station or 2 as it's really very crowded. Took it for my trip to Kalighat Temple from hotel along Park Street. Quite a fast sevice. But do take note of its operating hours. Doesn't run till very late and it starts really late, in the afternoon, on Sundays.
