.Marble palace is fully crafted in marble. It houses the most exquisite collection of art and sculptures. The Mullick family still lives in another wing of this palace. If you are fortunate Brotindra Mullick ,may take you on a personalized tour of his palace. It is a treat for art lovers .It houses paintings and art de facts from all over the world .They also have as pets some rare birds in the premises.A must visit !

“Beautiful architecture and collection,needs preservation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2011

I absolutely loved this place. I went there on a rainy day, wading through almost knee deep water on the street right outside the palace..but it was so worth it. The private collection is fabulous with some very valuable pieces. I remember seeing originals of Raja Ravi Verma and Rubens. However, I saw some of the paintings in really bad shape and in serious need of restoration. The collection is managed by a private fund and I'm not sure if they are doing anything about it. the lighting was pretty bad in the room with Rubens' painting and it was really difficult to see.
The wealth accumulated mainly by one person made me think of how successful this businessman was!His descendants still live in one portion of the house. I met one of them...he was very courteous and knowledgeable ,said that he was writing a book on the palace's collection and the founder Raja Rajendra Mullick.
There was a big garden around the palace with birds and plants.
