“Quiet, safe, comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 October 2013

Bodhi Tree was my first stop in India. I arrived after midnight, which wasn't a problem; they sent a driver to collect me at the airport (for a fee) and had my room ready for me. I stayed in the smallest room, which is a little cramped, but was enough for me as a lone traveller. The bed was a little damp, but alright.

The hotel is outside the city centre, but is convenient to reach by metro, and the manager was happy to arrange a taxi to take me to the train station at a fair price. Breakfast is simple but tasty, and is served on a pretty little terrace at the back. Wifi is free and reliable. Snacks, drinks and full meals are available, and staff are accommodating and friendly.

The remarkable thing for me was how quiet the hotel is. Kolkata is a noisy, crowded city, and Bodhi Tree is surprisingly serene in the midst of this.

Room Tip: All the rooms are themed and priced differently. It may be worth considering a bigger room if you...

Delightful boutique hotel in a quiet street in southern Kolkata. Surrounded by fabulous art, the Bodhi Tree is comfortable, professionally run and the staff are most friendly and helpful. Santu the manager deserves a special mention for customer service beyond what I usually experience. Breakfast is sufficient in size and very tasty (don’t understand previous complaint), whilst I ate both lunch and dinner there which were both again, home cooked and great, especially the egg curry. Collection from the airport is high at 1500 rp, but it is an air conditioned private car which meets you at arrivals with a sign. The hotel is difficult to find in the south of the city and most taxi driver’s don’t know it - consequently this service is worth it. Public transport connections are good, street is quiet and safe. The room is comfortable, beautifully designed. The internet works well and the staff are ready to help with anything. Highly recommended.

Finalized the place after a rigorous search on Trip Advisor. It was a 2 night stay. The access to place is easy but due to rains the lane was flooded and all time we had to use a Rikshaw. The place is very close to metro station so its very good if you wish to travel in city by metro. The place is cosy and comfortable. The staff is also very helpful. Recommended to everyone who do do not wish to stay in a regular hotel.
Even though there are not many restaurants nearby but one can visit a mall in the proximity and can enjoy marvelous food in MainLand China.

maybe a bit away from the cities highlights, but you get to know the area with all the little shops and markets, metro station is 8 minutes walk away, you can take a rikscha to the hotel. metro is very convinient and faster than taxi.
very good wifi, the place is clean, and has nice decoration.
minus was that they charge for left baggage.
quiet location exactly opposite the cinema, ask the owners which exit you should take in the station when coming back, the right exit is exactly near the lane you have to take to walk to the hotel. around the station and the way to the hotel are shops and foodstalls, hairdresser, massage

Room Tip: the smallest room is very small, better only for single traveller, but possible for 2

Very ethnic, artistic and cosy place to stay.....it feels like a small museum. Bodhi Tree has just 5 rooms and carved out of a row house in a residential area. It never felt like staying in a standard or regular hotel....and made me felt relaxed and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent....freshly made and just sufficient. Free wi-fi is also an added plus.

The staff are friendly and the manager Mr. Santhu is truly helpful ans kind person.

Special thanks for upgrading my room to a bigger one.....look forward to coming back.

Room Tip: Not for families with children......or aged people.

Very clean , close to metro station , good breakfast . The only suggestion I would like to make is regarding poor light inside the room . its true there are 5 side lamps around the room and 1 reading light near the desk. but its very hard to read when in bed or even packing or unpacking. everything else is excellent

Decent place to stay boutique style. Stopped for one night. Good sized room - Tantrayana. Basic breakfast as we were leaving early and informed the reception the night before. Bathroom needs a bit of cleaning. Hotel not very difficult to reach. Good experience. Will go again.
