Bodhi Tree

Off the main street in Kolkata making for a pleasant and quiet place to stay. Close to the centre of town so very convenient. A short walk or tram ride to Victoria Monument. The included breakfast that I had was more than enough for me and very delicious.

Very accommodating staff. I had a very late arrival (1.15am) and a very early checkout (4am) which posed no problem. Highly recommended.

The Bodhi Tree is located in a small but quiet back street and so the place was quiet. On entering it is well decorated with lots of interesting art. The accommodation was lovely, we had a spacious room near the front entrance. The bed was comfortable but the bedding was a little unusual, there were not standard sheets and blankets for cover, just light little throws, although it was warm enough in the room so we were not uncomfortable. The bathroom was reasonable although a little grimy and tired looking. The eating area was small and breakfast was average. Although this is a hook to get you in, as it is included in the price, it was fairly plain. One morning they ran out of jam because no one had gone shopping. They were quite miserly with tea and only gave one cup for breakfast, when we had a second one, they asked for payment. Given the accommodation is around $70 a night, I though this was not good customer service, especially when part of the breakfast was missing. Staff were friendly overall but had limited English skills. The location overall was handy, only about 5-10minuted stroll to a metro station, which was very easy to use.

Nice and clean rooms, very friendly staff in a place that makes you feel home in Kolkata. With the art gallery attached and each room having it's own theme this is a really nice place to stay while you're in Kolkata. Nice beds and a clean bathroom allow you to relax and prepare for a day of sightseeing.

Thanks, staff at Bodhi Tree. We had an enjoyable stay.
Our room was clean and spacious. Staff always tried to make us feel comfortable.
Location was quiet and out of the way. That suited our travel requirements.
Breakfast was average and a small portion. Unfortunately wifi was not always working, due to an electrical storm and is not available in the rooms.
We would happily stay again.

This was a lovely hide away from the world outside. The place is very clean and the staff very helpful. It is very close to the metro so easy to get around. The shopping centre is a quick shared tuk tuk down the road.

Bodhi Tree is an inn that also serves as a small art gallery. That is why, upon entrance, you'll find paintings and other works of art being displayed. It certainly is a welcoming sight after surviving the madness of traffic jam, crowded cars and dozens of people roaming the street, which is only 5-minute walk from the hotel.
The staff, despite their limited English, was able to help anytime. Most importantly is their help to get a cab, which is no easy task, especially in explaining to the cab drivers your destination.
The room was spacious, the amenities was simple, but enough for short stay. The bathroom is clean, and the water heater is working.

Room Tip: Wifi connection only works in dining area, which is basically a small backyard.
