“Good food”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

The food quality and taste is very nice, moreover not expensive. I will say value for money. If you are planning to go over there on weekend please add another hour as you may have to wait for 30 to 45 minutes.

“Taste never to forget”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

Peter Cat ,though with the name we are bound to expect an all European cuisine but it has something lot lot more for us to offer. Lets start from the beginning. This is one of the restaurants in the city of joy, eating where will surely make you joyful. It retains the charms of early 70's in its ambiance and serves foods and drinks from its almost unchanged menu for many decades now. I have particularly lost the count how many times i have visited this place, rather i tend to make up excuses to go there. Every time i go there it the same turban clad gate keeper who will jot down my name on a piece of paper and in the most polite voice ask me to wait for some time before I can go in and lose myself to the unforgettable taste. Okay so after waiting for some time ( wait may be as long as 30/45 mins depending on the day spcly during festivals) I get my name called by the gate keeper and have one of there restaurant managers waiting at the door to receive and guide me to my allocated seat. This is a double storied facility and I typically love to have my seat on the upper deck, one of the reason for my choice is when I order those sizzlers i can see the waiters bringing them climbing the stairs and i can savor them with eyes before feeling them with my taste buds and then who wont love walking up the stairs and getting a feel of the old world. It will be right to mention here that this is not a very brightly lit place, its a dimly light place with mainly lights over the table to enjoy the food visually. All waiters here are dressed in traditional Persian style in a white long pathani suit and a red velvet sleeveless jacket over it and a red turban on their head.

Being said about the ambiance now lets move to the menu. The menu consist of something all over the Asia and Europe. In kolkata one can find many eateries serving oriental, European and Mughlai dishes but this place is the only one serving authentic Persian cuisine in ts variety of "Chelo kebabs". This place has more than ten appetizers in bot veg and non veg to offer you to start your full course meal, if you want to enjoy the raw and rustic spices to soothe your pallets and if you want to go the oriental or European way then you can choose from the choice of soups. The Bar menu is also quite extensive from the Indian made liquor to the imported ones you can order as per your desire ( here drinks are served by peg except wine which can be bought per bottle) and if you are of the kind who cant handle the poison then you can go with the various juices and mock tails offered.
Now if i want to taste something European or Oriental what the hell am i doing in Peter cat unless and until i want to dive into the raw Persian taste of meat , so tender and soft that it melts in my mouth and leaves an everlasting mark on my mind starting from Chello kebabs to marakesh to afghani chicken to shah nauz each and every dish is phenomenal here. Vegetarians also dont feel bad reading this cause they have a range of mouth watering dishes for you as well. So as the Persian delight comes to an end follows in their range of hot sizzling sizzlers undoubtedly this place serves the best sizzlers in all over kolkata simply its like know one can do it better than these guys, and sitting on the upper deck and enjoying sizzler with a red wine aaaahhhh feels like being in heaven. It will be highly wrong on my end if I forgot to mention about Bhuna rann its typically an Afghan delicacy its the entire leg of a lamb roasted with selected spices ( never ever dare to ask for a bhuna rann if you are eating alone). Their menu does consist of a list of other common items like biriyani, pulao , chowmein and all but these things are served almost every where. The desert here is also quite exotic with a choice of ice creams and warm brownies.
To sum up i will only say step in with a huge appetite and when you come out your appetite will increase so much that you too will look out for reasons to come back and will never mind to wait out side to get your turn.

“Chelo kabab is one of the best things.”

A good restaurant in the heart of park street. Its usually jam packed with people but a little wait is worth the food served here. Waiters are not so efficient.

“go for kebabs & sizzlers”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

They are popular for their chello kebabs & sizzlers. But if you are on business travel with male colleague so they made us wait like hell, only giving priority entry to family & couples. Also they won't be happy for small orders like a dish or 2, rather expect more and kind of morally insist to order more dishes.....that is the only sore point, maybe that is their business strategy, still would recommend for their unique Kebabs & sizzlers!!
