This is a small museum, but there is so much to see! I've lived in AL my whole life, but had never been here before. This would have been a great place for school field trips! There are so many exhibits to see! The animals are all very well preserved and to my relief, had all died of natural causes. There are so many things to see: Animals, insects, gemstones and many others. I definitely recommend this museum!

This small museum has good displays showing local animals, bugs, rocks, and other items of interest. The bug collections are extensive. This museum could be especially valuable on a day when the weather prevents outdoor activities.. Probably the best feature is that it is free; in essence it's a gift to the community from Cooks Pest Control. School groups, scout troops, and other youth organizations often visit. This museum is centrally located in Decatur and has free parking. It is all on one level, with just a few steps at the entrance.

This is a smaller museum, but still very interesting with a great layout. It was not overly crowded. The staff were all very friendly and easy to talk to. There are lots of different exhibits from bugs to indians. My 7 year old loved it!

This was a cute little museum full of animals, birds and bugs - all preserved so that you can see what they look like up close. It is a quick trip. My girls loved the butterfly exhibit and the owls best - they were so excited to see the taxidermy to enjoy the creatures up close. Worth a stop if you are nearby!

I try to get to this place whenever we have young relatives visiting us. It has something for everyone. I never get tired of looking at all of the natural collections. And the best part is that it is FREE. I don't know why it isn't packed with people all the time. It is one of the best places in the Tennessee Valley to visit.
