Many visits here, many more to come! We are big fans of the pulled pork, it continues to be some of the best. Lean, chopped very fine, sauce on the side, thank you! We recently ordered our first family pack, usually opting for individual dinners. We got the pulled pork, baked beans, mac n cheese, fried green tomatoes, 1 pepsi and 1 banana pudding, to go. The pork, beans and mac were packed securely in quart containers inside a cardboard carrier usually used for drinks. The pork was as expected, lean, smoky, chopped up, a slight vinegar smell that I found unusually off-putting, but it tasted okay, tending to be drier than usual visits. The beans were so full of meat it was impossible to get a bite of bean without pork, so if you are a vegetarian, stay away! They had a slow simmered flavor, full of molasses, brown sugar and ketchup....yum. The mac n cheese was a little to reminiscent of a blue box to satisfy me, T lapped it up!The banana pudding was full of fruit, wafers and a great pudding, homemade in flavor with a very generous dallop of sweet whipped cream on top, taking me back to Memaw's! It seems like everything else, over the years the quantity has shrank and the price increased, as this dinner ran at a little under 40, but we were still eating it 2 days later, so a good deal overall. Service remains spot on, friendly, a little slow, but I gladly wait for fresh cooked food. The fried green tomatoes at BBQ shack remain the gold standard, only to be surpassed by the Slocomb tomato festival, but let's get real! If you are craving Q in Dothan, you might want to visit this shack, cause it is where the good stuff is hiding!
