“Nice place to stay on short notice”
Reviewed 8 October 2009

The rooms were clean but one of our non-smoking rooms smelled like smoke. Walmart was close by so we bought a can of Lysol for that problem. The hotel was very convenient to all the restaurants and shopping. The hotel store was very pricey.

I booked it at a discount rate and it exceeded my expectations by far. Everything was so neat and clean and just cozy. The breakfast was really worth getting up for! There was grits, eggs, sausage and Oh my God- Belgium Waffles!!! The pool was really nice and clean and there was basically a "store" at the front desk where you could purchase things like batteries, meds, etc. I will definitely be staying here next summer. The hotel played a big part in me wanting to spend another vacation in Gulf Shores. The only small complaint I have is that the breakfast staff was "not so friendly" but it definitely didn't ruin my experience.

My wife and I enjoyed our brief stay at this location. The beach was less than a five minute drive away, making for less traffic in our area. Very nice room with kitchette. Snacks from 5 til 7, including free beer and wine. Friendly staff. Excellant shower - wish I had it at home. Everything easily accessible from this location.

My husband and I stayed just one night here. The hotel is alittle hard to find because it has a very small sign and it sits off main road. The hotel is very new. Everything was nice, neat ect. All of the staff was wonderful, except one lady at breakfast was not very friendly, but it was 6:45am and they were still getting stuff ready. There is a full kitchen in the room. Overall we really liked it and we would stay here again.

We just got back from Gulf Shores where we stayed 4 nights at Staybridge. Hotel just opened Spring '09 and friendly staff worked hard to keep it clean and nice and make sure guests were comfortable. Located behind a small strip shopping center on 59 about 5 minutes (around 4 miles) straight to beach.

Free hot breakfast (grits, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, waffles, fruit, cereal, etc.). Also a laundry room on first floor with free washing machines/dryers. After seeing moms who came prepared, I ran to Target (a couple of blocks away in a shopping center that also had a movie theater) and bought a laundry basket and detergent. Was great to have clean and dry bathing suits and beach towels. Only negative was traffic on 59 to the beach got a little heavy during peak times. Pool is enough to get wet in. T,W,Th they have free beer, wine, sodas and a snack in the evenings from about 5:30-7:30. A few videos are available for borrowing at the front desk. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with two double beds and a pull out full-size sofa bed, perfect for my family of five. Plasma TVs and DVD players in living room and bedroom. Linens and towels were much nicer than I expected from this class hotel, granite counters in the kitchen and bath are a nice touch. Kitchen has fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and stovetop (no oven), and was stocked with everything you'd need. Can pick up groceries at Brunos on 59 toward the beach or Target. Free WiFi in rooms. Alarm clock had Ipod dock. Only weird thing was you had to request maid service for the weekend by Friday afternoon.

There is a public access beach right at 59/Beach that's $10 a week. We got there early and parked right in front. Parking filled up later in the day but the beach never felt overly crowded. Showers and restrooms weren't the best facilities I've seen but definitely not the worst. There were several other public beaches on Beach all the way to Pensacola. On a tip from a friend, we drove over to Pensacola (around 30 minutes?) to see the Naval Air Station Museum which was amazing. My three boys loved the beach but this was the highlight of the trip and I highly recommend it. Just down the road from the museum was Fort Barrancas and a lighthouse. Didn't tour the lighthouse but Ft. Barrancas was interesting, too.

There are some other similar hotels on the same street (59) going toward the beach: Marriott Courtyard and Holiday Inn Express, possibly a Days Inn? (looks like it just changed, maybe from a Comfort Inn?). And there's a Marriott Fairfield at Orange Beach (though it's not real clear on the website, you have to drive to the beach from there, too). On the beach is a Hilton, and I think I saw another Holiday Inn Express on the beach.

We picked Staybridge over these hotels because of the full breakfast, great rate, and positive reviews here. You can't walk to the beach but considering the price and maid service, and I'd pick it any day over a condo on the beach. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Found Staybridge online. Very clean and friendly staff. Was impressed with the quality of the rooms. Liked the small kitchen, had everything we needed. Nice tv's with dvd players. The beds were very comfy. You can do your laundry for free onsite if needed. The beach was about a 5 mile drive, but not much traffic to deal with. Loved that breakfast was offered every morning. Traveled with two small children who loved the stay as well.

Got a really good deal through discount pricing. This hotel is fairly new so everything is very clean and tidy. Had a little trouble finding hotel because it is behind a shopping center. It wasn't as close to the beach as I thought, ( a little drive) and when comming back from the beaches, you have to drive past the hotel and turn around to get back to it because there is no median for crossover. Hotel staff very friendly and polite. Very pretty hotel. Breakfast is free but is best to go early as some stuff was empty and not enough seating in dining area. We grabbed our stuff and brought back to our room. They do a social night on Wed and Thurs nights where beer on tap and wine is served between 530-700 in same place. This hotel is pet friendly as our last night we had someone on our floor check in with a dog. The pool is really tiny but no big deal if you are going here for the beaches. If you are planning a quite evening, check to make sure they are not hosting a large group during your stay. We didn't know until the first night that the hotel had been booked by several 10year old U-Trip baseball ball teams, so you can imagine the atmosphere.
