The house as a whole was a nice house and family friendly. However, it needed some up keep done to it. The location was good - not too far from the center of GulfShores (not quite 2 miles) and a walkable distance to the public beach. The lay out of the house was good and the pool was just next yard over - all good things. The beds were all comfortable and the bathrooms were good and plenty of storage in them. The pedestal sinks were really pretty. The master suite was exceptionally nice. The negatives were that not much of a yard and what was there was full of sand spurs (ouch!) so no playing yard games and shoes were a must. Inside negatives: The ceilings were stained with water stains in all rooms except the bedrooms; the sofa was very uncomfortable (didn't try the bed part of it) and the porch wicker love seat had a cushion that was so disgusting that no one would sit on it ( I took a picture) and left our large group with only two chairs on the deck to use. I have seen better furniture left by the road for trash pickup. Positives in the kitchen: The dishes were nice and plentiful and there was a great knife set and they had al the needed kitchen tools (from colander, wine cork remover, cheese grater etc) and the refrigerator and pantry were nice. The ice maker worked and the microwave was great. Negatives: The dishwasher doesn't dry the dishes. The stove worked fine but the oven's top element doesn't work - only the bottom one and therefor burned biscuits and cookies on the bottom and the tops were still not completely done. I can live without baking on vacation (-:
The most troubling was the smoke detectors - Two of the upstairs were disconnected (one was completely removed from the wall and left on the tv table)again - I took a picture. - not sure if the others were in operational shape - they looked yellowed/old.
I liked the layout and liked the upstairs decks on both sides of the house - one on the Gulfside and the other overlooking the lagoon. It has a nice board walk to get to the lagoon and has a boat dock if you have a boat to bring.
