“Crowded, but good”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

If you like BBQ places that FEEL like a good bbq place, then this place is for you. The lunch crowd fills the place pretty quickly, but if you can get through the masses of people, you can get some great eats! The pulled pork is good, but the smoked sausage is my favorite. Just the right amount of spice in those things! Add a glass of sweet tea and you are set for a southern meal!

“Great BBQ!”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

Every time I visit the Birmingham area, I make a point to schedule a stop at Saw's. It's one of those little hole in the wall places which often end up being some of the best eating experiences around. It's no frills, down home comfort food served quickly and at a reasonable price. If you're planning on going during lunch, get there early because there's always a big line once the lunch rush starts. Don't worry if you end up getting stuck in line though because the wait is worth it!

“Best BBQ in a city full of great BBQ”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

Literally not a single dud on the menu. My go-to is a half-chicken, white sauce on the side, but everything else is delicious, too. The pulled pork is juicy and flavorful. The ribs are tender and smoky. The stuffed potatoes are enormous and combine lots of great things on the menu in one dish. And don't leave without some banana pudding.

“BBQ done right!”
Reviewed 12 August 2013

This is literally "whole in the wall" place where you will find some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten. Also, the macaroni and cheese is wonderful. You may have to ask for it as it is not always on the menu.

“Great Ribs and Brisket!”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

Since Triple D had not review anyplace in the area I relied on a web search and found Saw’s. Nice casual hole in the wall place with plenty of free parking around the corner in a municipal lot. Pretty busy during main meal times and small dining area so I timed it at about 1:30pm and was able to walk up and order and get a seat. I ordered the sampler platter that I thought was a little over priced but you do get more than enough food. Cole slaw was different but OK. The beans were kind of bland, not spicy at all but did have real meat in it so it was good home cooked quality just not memorable. The chicken with a unique white sauce was dry but otherwise tasty. The ribs and brisket were really really good and worth the trip. I would definitely return and try one of their other plates with different sides. Oh one tip, don't plan on attending a business meeting after dining because you smell of the BBQ pit but that's not a bad thing!
