My husband, brother-in-law, and I went to visit the museum because my husband studies and loves military history. The men who work here are volunteers, mostly veterans. They are very knowledgable and have amazing stories. There is a lot to see here for any history buff. The building was an old air hanger and then a jail before becoming the museum. They do need a new building to better display the pieces, but currently do not have the funding or backing. They are doing well with what they have, but it would be wonderful to see more community support. Great people, great historical pieces, great visit! I highly recommend for any history lover.

This place is a gold mine of information and exhibits for history and war buffs. It badly needs a better/bigger location and better advertising. The staff is very knowledgeable. A dynamic politician/councilman/proponent is badly needed though--this place has better/more historic items than the WWII Museum in New Orleans but it is marketed poorly and in an old dilapidated building off the beaten path. Thsi really should be much more of a tourist attraction than it is.

This was one of those hidden gems in Huntsville. They had an amazing collection of military hardware dating from the Revolutionary War all the way up to present. What is really different about this museum is craft men, mechanics and skilled people are restoring actual vehicles on site. So make sure you donate. I went with my 9 year old son and he loved it. There were actual bulletproof vest to put on, helmets and real rifles to hold. They also have tanks outside to look at as well.

This is one of the best collections of military history that I have seen. We arrived and were met by a friendly volunteer who offered to answer any questions that we may have concerning the memorial. Someone took great time and effort to locate and create each era of military history dating back to the founding of our country. It is fascinating to see the equipment and vehicles up close. I especially loved the historical tour of military uniforms as well as nursing artifacts.
