“Good location, breakfast and staff”
Reviewed 5 March 2009

We stayed at the Fairfield when family was admitted to the hospital and so our trip wasn't planned at all. We found the staff to be incredibly helpful and very friendly. The breakfast that's provided is very good as well. If memory serves me correctly you'll be able to choose from waffles, french toast, pastries, bagels, cold cereal, fruit (both fruit cocktail and bananas), microwavable sandwich (sausage and cheese and bacon, egg & cheese) as well as milk, coffee and various juices. There are quite a few choices but my complaint is that I wish there were biscuits and gravy. That's not exactly considered continental breakfast though. The room was very nice but I do have to say that we couldn't get the internet to work - both wireless and plugged into the wall. The thing I liked the most however was the location. There is a super Target behind the hotel and a super Wal-Mart across the street. There is shopping and a ridiculous amount of restaurants both within walking distance and driving distance. Enterprise Way is just off University Dr. which has shopping and restaurants on both sides for miles. Also within a short drive is the NASA Space Center. There are 2 fitness centers (both of which we happily did not use! <grin>) and a pool with a jacuzzi. Hopefully no one that reads it will need this information but this hotel is only 10-15 minutes from Huntsville Hospital.

I needed a hotel close to the Jacobs conference center. The other hotels had such dodgey reviews that I choose this one. My default hotel is Hampton but the local Hampton's reviews were not encouraging. This Fairfield was very good, maybe not as stylish as a Hampton, but clean, friendly and convenient to my destinations and food.

This Fairfield is in a corner of a shopping center behind the main strip of University drive. It is hard to see from the roadway, so look for the IHOP sign on University and then the Target sign on Enterprise Way. Take a sharp right after the Target sign or you will wind up in the shopping center, not the hotel lot.

Ask for a room at the back, which faces a bank, nice and quiet at night. A big difference between the Fairfields and the Hamptons is that Hampton recesses its elevators and ice machines into alcoves. The Fairfields jam those right between the rooms. I always ask if a room faces, or is next to, an ice machine or elevator. In a Fairfield that's a must.

The hotel lot does not connect to University. Do not try to cross Enterprise or University on foot. This is typical strip development and not pedestrian friendly at all. You can always turn right out of the hotel lot, go down Enterprise and make a U-turn to go back to University drive, if making a left against traffic doesn't work for you.

I stayed one night at this Faifield Inn. The hotel is in good shape.

The room was nice and comfortable and the furnishings were in good shape. The internet service worked well. Breakfast was good, but not up to the selection you find at Holiday Inn Express.

The hotel is in a good location for shopping and restaurants.

My only minor complaints were that the TV was small compared to what you see in most hotels today. Also the towels were very THIN. Not sure why they went so cheap on the towels.

I would recommend this hotel.

This was our 2nd stop on our 3 week trip around the southern states. We stopped here on 16th June 2008 on our way to Memphis. Good location with plenty of local shops. But we took our lives in our hands trying to cross the busy road to have our tea (or dinner for any Americans who may be reading this!) in O'Charleys. Clean rooms, acceptable breakfast - so no complaints at all.

This hotel was definately worth the price. We asked for and received without problem two connecting rooms, each with double beds (we were a party of two adults and three teenagers) and a rollaway bed. The rooms were very clean; the pool was available until 10 p.m.; the free breakfast included make-your-own waffles, yogurt, cereals, pastries, coffee, juices and other stuff too. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. One of them suggested a restaurant nearby - Grill 129 (may have been Grill 29) which provided the best meal I've had since moving out of New York City a year ago (not cheap but well worth every penny!!!)Overall, we had a very positive experience.

  • Liked — Got what we asked for and cleanliness of accommodation.
  • Disliked — nothing

We had a great stay at Fairfield Inn at Huntsville. It is a few miles off the interstate but a very clean, quiet hotel to get a great nights sleep. It is close to dining and other services.

We stayed for two nights and came away with nothing exceptional to say, good or bad. It is clean, in a good location with lots of great restaurants nearby, comfortable, everything a hotel should be. It has an indoor pool and spa, and a small (3-pieces) fitness room. Breakfast was good, with make your own waffles, muffins, etc., but the room was also quite small if the hotel was packed, which fortunately, it wasn't.

One thing that was our bad luck: we happened to have a couple of 4-5 year old kids in the room directly above us, who thought that 5:30 was the officlal wake-up time. This hotel's construction is not of the type where you want to be below this pounding. You couldn't hear voices, but definitely the pounding of the floor. Next time, we would get a room on the top floor. We would have done that this time, but there were two busloads of HS students for the weekend.

The only deciding factor for us to stay here again would be price. We paid about $80 per night, which was fair for this area.
