Magnolia Springs Bed & Breakfast

This was our second visit in 5 years. The care of the hosts, the charm of the historic home, the quiet and secluded street, and the close proximity to many activities and shopping all played a part in our selection. We will recommend this restful spot to our friends.

We were married at Rosemary Beach on Saturday & I planned for us to spend a couple of days on the way home winding down from the wedding week.

A friend had mentioned Magnolia to us, but little did we realize how magical it is.

We spent an extra day at the beach with friends & family, and Dave was VERY accomodating about that In hindsight, I wish that we had gotten there sooner.

It was Monday evening when we did arrive. Dave & Eric both met us. Dave gave us a detailed tour & description of the B & B, then left us to relax. This place is intended for relaxation.

We took a quiet walk around the beautiful & friendly town. After that, we sat on the front porch and talked. Eric visited with us for a while, which really made us feel welcome.

Then we had a great dinner within walking distance of the B & B. When we got back, there was a congrat's banner in the room. What a sweet touch.

The breakfast was great. The only downside was leaving too soon.

There is so much to do around Magnolia Springs & So much to not do, if you choose as well. For either one, this is the place to stay!!

We went to Magnolia Springs for a belated anniversary trip and had a wonderful time! The Bed and Breakfast is located in a beautiful community that is very convenient to Fairhope, Point Clear, Foley, Mobile, and Gulf Shores. However, it was hard to pull us away from the rockers and swing on the front porch, which is an excellent place to drink coffee while waiting on your gourmet breakfast. Also, there is a wonderful restaurant and old fashioned market within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone looking to get away while still being close to many attractions.

I cannot speak highly enough about Magnolia Springs Bed & Breakfast in Magnolia Springs, Alabama! The property is a beautifully rennovated historic hotel--over 100 years old--with all the modern conveniences yet still retaining the "old world" charm of a bygone era. Innkeepers David and Eric excel in pampering you with a delicious, homemade, three-course breakfast each morning and are more than happy to provide you with all kinds of information about the area. The inn sits on lovely Oak Street, with magnificent views from the front porch of the huge live oak trees that line the entire street. In about 20 minutes--either to the west (Mobile Bay) or to the south (Gulf Shores)--you can be on the beach. Jesse's Restaurant, a delightful and casual gourmet restaurant ,sits just down from the inn on Oak Street. The Magnolia Bed & Breakfast cannot be beat for beauty, comfort, and true Southern hospitality!

Our 3 night stay at the Magnolia Springs Bed and Breakfast was an absolute delight. David and Eric were such gracious hosts and inn keepers and Dave is a marvelous cook. Our breakfasts were delicious. It was thrilling to stay in a renovated 110 year old house with such a history; David gave us the history and tour of the whole home and our accommodations were very comfortable. He takes great pride and cares for the house so that it is in pristine condition. He is also a great tour director and knows the area so well that he very willingly helped guide us to make the most of our days in this very genteel Southern setting. A perfect vacation!

Everything about our stay was idyllic. We had to keep telling ourselves it was real! The B & B and the hosts (David and Eric) are like family and welcome you warmly. This is a bed and breakfast you must visit – I highly, highly recommend it. I’m ready to book my next trip!

The home sits back off the oak canopied street with a spacious front porch. It is spacious and inviting, restored beautifully. There were 5 ladies in our group (from Indiana) who shared 2 rooms. The B & B was at capacity with the other 3-4 rooms also full. Noise issues were at a minimum and we enjoyed meeting and chatting with the other guests at breakfast and on the front porch. There is plenty of space to find a private spot for reading or reflection.

As an avid pet lover, I was delighted to encounter the 3 resident cats: Socks, Tigger, and Snickers. To prevent allergy concerns, the cats are not allowed in the guest quarters.

Breakfast is incredible. Three courses, served by the hosts, perfectly prepared. Fresh fruit, french toast, grits, muffins, etc. Breakfast could certainly get you through late afternoon! Breakfast is at 9 a.m. If we arose early, we would grab a cup of coffee or tea from a self-service area and head out to relax on the porch or we strolled around the tree lined streets and were greeted by the friendly neighbors.

The town is quiet and restful. The community welcoming. We met many, many friendly neighbors, store owners, etc. Within easy walking distance are the river, Jesse's Restaurant, and a church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel. Our group has membership in the Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, and the United Methodist Church. We were delighted to attend St. Paul’s during our visit and met yet another lovely group of townspersons and enjoyed the service. Should you feel I make this sound too quiet, remember, you are within a short drive to the bay, Bellingrath Gardens, Fair Hope (great shopping), and much more.

Coincidentally, during our stay the town held its annual arts and jazz festival. The festival (I believe) is held to raise money for protecting the live oak trees. We were able to walk to this event, enjoy some fantastic music, purchase local art, and again – visit with the locals.

Enjoy your visit! :)

Our stay at the Magnolia Springs B & B was incredible. The accomodations were beautiful and restful, the breakfasts were absolutely delicious (and complete with the recipes!), and the innkeepers more than met our every need--from beach chairs and umbrellas to recommendations for excellent restaurants. As David told us (and it's the truth!), "if I don't have it, you don't need it!"

Our stay was also completely set up by surprise (as a birthday celebration for my spouse) and included an open biplane ride down the coast at sunset, all arranged very efficiently by our host during the reservation process (all by one email and one phone call).

We stayed in the McClennan room with a very comfortable king-size canopy bed, soft linens, and a soak-worthy claw foot tub. The toilet was unique...a true antique high-tank toilet with a pull chain, but it worked as well as any modern facilities. The meticulous renovations of the house were awesome and complete with all the expected contemporary creature comforts--cold air conditioning, updated plumbing, electric outlets, wireless internet access, etc. As an early riser, I especially loved having morning coffee on the porch swing listening to the birds and watching the sun filter through the canopy of live oaks and magnolias. Coffee was always on by 7 a.m., and breakfast was served at 9 a.m.

I can't say enough--I know we just can't wait to get back.
