“Can't wait”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2012

Can't wait to return! This was our fourth visit and hope there will be many more. Tony and Eleanor have to be the best B&B host and hostess in the southeast. We stayed in the Casablanca room this time but each room is as nice as the other and the breakfast is beyond belief with all the homemade sides etc. And then there are the gardens! We spent more time outside than we did inside strolling through the beautiful flowers and shrubs. Can't wait 'til next time.

Room Tip: You'll be pleased with any of the rooms.

We had the good fortune to pick Raven Haven as our point of destination when we decided to visit Mentone for our 15th Anniversary. It couldn't have been a more perfect stay! Our room (The Nautical) was very comfortable, clean and cozy. The owners, Tony and Eleanor are exceptional hosts and wonderful people. They made us feel very much at home and provided little touches all through the weekend that really made us feel special. (The homemade desserts, when we returned from our evening out, are an example...they were delicious!) The breakfasts were incredible. These were not your usual B&B breakfasts, but gourmet dishes (different each morning), using many ingredients from their own beautiful garden. Those meals were as good as I've had at any restaurant and believe me, you will not leave the table hungry. The Haven is situated on ten acres about three miles out of Mentone, so you have plenty of peace and quiet, and having coffee on the porch, enjoying the surrounding nature is a wonderful way to start the day. The aforementioned garden is a thing of beauty and the seating areas all through it, allow for moments of relaxation in the midst of the beauty. If you want to have a great experience, meet two wonderful people and spend a couple of days in Heaven, then book a stay at the Haven. We left refreshed and happy and wishing we could turn right around and go back. Thank you, Tony and Eleanor for a beautiful weekend. We'll never forget our 15th! Blessings to you both!

My husband wanted to get away and he wanted to go to Mentone. We had visited Mentone many times in the past but it had been 10 years. I found Raven Haven on the internet and it looked very pleasant and interesting. The pictures on the web don't do it justice. The rooms are great! I want to try them all! We stayed in Casa Blanca, a Moroccan oasis. It was thoughtfully (and thoroughly) decorated, with chocolates on our bed at arrival and a dessert waiting for us in the frig. Eleanor cooks like a chef and Tony is a wonderful host. The gardens out back are so colorful with swings and benches at every turn. Even Sunshine, the resident cat, was coaxed into being petted. We left rested and regretful that our time had been so short. Don't forget to look at the stars at Raven Haven. They have more than we do in Birmingham.

Room Tip: Casa Blanca is totally wheelchair accessible, even the bathroom. Queen Ann looks completely lovely...

Our plan had been just to stop over in Mentone enroute to a wedding further south in Alabama. But it turned out that our short stay at Raven Haven was delightful. We stayed in the very comfortable Casablanca room with all sorts of Bogart and Bergman posters, memorabilia, and even a ceiling and ceiling fan that seemed to be right out of the movie back lot. Our breakfast was delicious and got us on our way in the morning . Our hosts Tony and Eleanor were attentive, interesting, and very gracious in directing us to the Moonlight Bistro for an excellent dinner. The weather was gorgeous, the flowers in the B&B's garden were all a-bloom, and the air and temperature were perfect, almost fall-like. Va Travelers

My 90 year old mother and I stayed at Raven Haven last night and it was a wonderful experience. The hosts are the nicest people you would ever want to meet. The house and grounds are beautiful and immaculate. We would highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay at Raven Haven. Eleanor and Tony were incredibly hospitable and the house is beautiful. The room we stayed in, the "Nautical Room", had so many cute details. The house is spotless, the food is incredible, and the property they live on is really nice to walk around/relax. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to relax and have fun. It is also close (you def have to have a car there though) to Desoto Falls(closer to Desoto State park than to Little River Canyon) and Little River Canyon.

  • Liked — The innkeepers were wonderful and the food was incredible.

We LOVE Raven Haven!!! Tony and Eleanor are wonderful people. My husband and I first stayed at Raven Haven in 1999 for our 20th anniversary and again for our 25th in 2004. We throughly enjoyed our visits. Wonderful conversation and Wonderful food. Hope to return soon. We won't stay at any other B&B or inn at Mentone.
