Me and 2 friends stayed here in May 2012 for 4 nights. We'll certainly be back. The guesthouse is a combination of 5 - 6 separate apartments set in a beautiful, colourful garden, down a short track just off the main road.
Rene and her family are lovely people and also live onsite. She'll be happy to tell you where the best places are and how much you should be paying for things at the markets!
We were charged 1200 rupees a night (£16) for the 3 of us, think it's slightly more in peak season.
The apartment was clean, bright and typically Indian in style. We had a veranda with comfy chairs to relax in the evening. It's off the main road, 2 minute walk to a cafe called Artjuna (can recommend the cold coffee and the fruit/muesli breakfast) it's also a 10-15 min walk to the beautiful beach.
Anjuna's a great place, with an interesting mix of people. We met a few yogis and hippies that have pretty much been here since the 60s. We were there 2 weeks before the monsoon, so there's not much open at all! Our taxi driver took great delight in showing us all the amazing restaurants that were excellent but closed because it's off season! But it was a peaceful, relaxing and great holiday. There are a few bars & restaurants that remain open at the end of the season. Can recommend Shore Bar, Tantra and Curlies.
The Wednesday market is also worth visiting for some bargains - but be prepared to haggle hard!
