Our first impression of the hotel was quit good. The rooms and location are ok but the problem is the staff of the hotel. They are terrible and so unbelievable unfriendly.

We made a reservation for 2 days but after the first day we want to stay longer. I went to the reception and ask for availability. This was not a problem and we should stay here for 5 days. After we wake up the second day and we go out for breakfast a guy from the hotel told us we have to check out directly. He said we have not make a reservation for longer time and he kick us out of the room. We tried to explain we reserved the room for more days but he won't listen. We put our stuff at the reception and went out for a breakfast. After we came back we ask for a discount because of the situation. He locked up our bagage and say that we have to pay the whole amount otherwise we should not get back our backpacks.

We have travelled a lot but this was the most terrible hotel staff we ever met! There are many better places in Anjuna to stay!!

we searched for this place on the net, when we typed 'cheap hotels in goa.' didn't expect much; just a place near the beach; and hopefully a clean washroom.
on reaching however, we were agog with things we found; a clean, spacious room, decent washrooms, a swimming pool (on the side of which, the waiter would place chilled beers while we were in it), and a generally happy ambience; exactly like what one should expect in a place like Goa.
what makes the hotel even better is the location; Anjuna beach. While the North of Goa is typically supposed to be 'noisy', as opposed to South Goa (which is the quieter version), the location of Anjuna beach is balanced so as to let you find your silent, introspective moments, in near and distant beaches like Arambol and beyond, and likewise, to purge your party-instincts in places like Baga etc.
another thing about the hotel- at the price one pays, it is just sheer bliss to start the day with a big (and cheap) breakfast sitting next to the beautiful pool.

Room Tip: avoid sitting on the chairs placed under the coconut trees in the pool area- the nuts have a tendency to drop off at their will... :)

I along with 4 of my friends planned a trip to Goa in February this year and we stumbled upon don joao resort with the help of tripadvisor.in. If you are a friends group who is planning to visit anjuna and places around this and you are looking for a reasonable budget hotel, this place is good. It has a decent pool. There is restaurant next to the pool and you can hot tea and snacks if you have a evening swim. The food is pretty good. Also, the place very near to the anjuna beach and vagator beach. You can hire bikes here with the help of the people who run the place. We got three bikes at roughly 350 each. This worked out pretty well for us. There were mostly firang junta in the hotel.

:)

We love this little apartment hotel - our second visit. It's simple, easy and as clean as you could expect in Anjuna. Our rooms were serviced daily with fresh bed linen, bath towels and a good old wash down of the tiled floors. Ceilings fans rattled away to keep the room coolish in April and we could watch India Premier League cricket in the room - or in the bar with the very friendly staff. Breakfast of toast and jam could be made more varied with omelettes or fried eggs for a very small extra cost. Pool very clean. Good security box system made us feel sure that our belongings would be safe.

Anjuna is a hippie throwback and our daily walk to the beach and shacks showed both old sixties freaks and village life. Low pressure selling from the stall holders on the way (a friendly 'no thanks' is enough to stop them trying to flog their wares). Tuk-tuks and taxis abound at Starco Corner - 100 rupees for a 2 stroke tuk tuk ride to Curlies Shack at the south end of the beach.

Perfect destination if you can tolerate Indian loos whilst you want to experience India-Lite!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the street into Anjuna village allows you to watch as Goa awakes if you are up by 7.00am. A stately procession of cows, bicycles, villagers, vehicles, dogs. Squirrels running in the palm trees and varied bird life add to the scene.

We stayed at the DonJoao for three weeks in Jan 2012 - my first holiday in Goa!
Our apartment (bedroom, sitting room, bathroom and balcony) wassimply furnished,
really comfortable beds, hot water when we wanted and a fridge to keep drinks etc.

The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful, the gardens beautifully kept with a
spotlessly clean pool.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return one day -as so many people do!
If you expect luxury on a European 4**** scale this is not your resort. For us, it was
just right..
