What can I say. We are avid Trip advisor users and our first day we headed for Ryans Shack from the recommendations, fortunately there were no sunbeds at Ryan's and we opted for Princess Corner next door.
WHAT A FIND ..........
We had the vibes of Ryan's shack with out having to wear ear plugs in but the most important thing was the service and the freshly prepared cooked food (cold Bud's as well) which was excellent and very reasonable. If you are looking for true Goan home cooking look no further and Shanki and Sharon will look after you. Shanki who runs the shack has his auntie helping out during the day and his mom arrives at 18:00 to cook sublime dishes in the evening. If you fancy something different or special let Shanki know and he will do his utmost to cater for you. While we were there it was Shanki's mum's birthday, we were invited to the evening and made to feel part of the family. What more could you want from a host.
Sharon looks after the gift's side (cheap tat as she call's it) as well as providing pedicure, manicure and foot massages. She is a real character who will look after you and have you in stitches with her humour. If you leave your towels with Sharon she will put them on the sunbeds each morning to ensure you have a bed for the day.
The sun sets from here were sublime as per my photo's and are a must to watch with a cold Budweiser or a Gin and Tonic followed by a freshly cooked dinner.
From 14:00 onwards Anil (Sharon's son) comes down after school and helps out his mom and Shanki getting drinks and packing away the sunbeds. Anil likes playing a game of eye spy and especially Angry Birds. If you fancy a game of cricket on the beach let Anil know and he will bring his bat and stumps down and the other boys will come out from the surrounding shacks and play. Shanki takes no prisoners when he bowls they take it seriously, all the boys are friendly and gave us some really good banter. Watch out for Ryan from the shack next door he is a bad loser as I found out when I bowled him out for a duck :), he went straight back to his shack.
We ate at Princess Corner everyday at Ryan's loss and how glad were we. Shanki is a genuinely nice guy with a keen eye to enhance his customers experience with his attention to detail and put's his investment straight back into the shack.
This was Shanki's first year running his shack and may there be many more as he deserves it.
If you go to this beach find Princess Corner and you will not be disappointed.
Say hi to Sharon, Anil, Shanki and family from Brown Boy and Milly (we miss them all).
P.S Tell Shanki to look on Trip Advisor for his shack to see the photo's of them all.

My wife is a tripadvisor member and has written reviews around our holidays for years. Having experianced Princess corner I have felt compelled to join in order to write my own review for the first time.

We were lucky enough to find this shack meeting Sharon first who convinced us with her lovely smile and fantastic sense of humour this was the place to be and she was not wrong.
I wont go into a lengthy review like my wife but the:
Sunbeds were comfortable
Food fantastic
Nothing was too much trouble
Regular visits were made to our beds by Shanki the owner, his Aunty and Sharon to see if we needed refreshments which of course we did in the heat of the day. These ranged from cold coffee, lime soda or beer which was just right on a lazy holiday not having to make an effort to move to the bar.
The cost for being there all day, the sunbeds (after the first day there was no charge), all drinks lunch and dinner would work out approximately £12 a head. The food is fantastic and it is pointless going all inclusive when you can eat so cheaply in this shack.

The food is so freshly prepared and we were well looked after with the family anticipating our needs we didnt wait long for anything - perfect hosts
Thanks Shanki for the game of cards and cricket I cant believe you got me out on the first ball!, enjoyed your sense of humour, and including us in your family celebrations.

If you are the type of person that likes to relax on a beautiful beach with good authentic local food and drink at your finger tips, excellent friendly service and getting to know local families this is the shack for you.

This is our fourth year in Goa and we are so glad we found Princess Corner run by Shanki and his lovely family. The beautiful views from the shack are the same as every other shack displaying stunning sunsets, what actually makes this shack is the awesome food, Shanki the owner, his family and those that work for him.

Princess Corner is new this year and situated right next door to Ryans Shack which we were originally looking for due to all the Trip advisor reviews. You will be welcomed warmly by Shanki, his Aunty, mother and Sharon, nothing was too much trouble, in fact we stayed very late at night on a couple of occasions and Shanki gave us a lift home. Shanki pays attention to detail, on our first day he didn’t have any tonic to go with the gin although it was on the menu – the next night and for the rest of the 2 weeks he produced tonic (which is more than our hotel Silver sands Hideaway did). Shanki also very kindly sourced Marlboro cigarettes for me as it is very easy to be palmed off as a tourist with fake ones in India. We met all of Shanki’s family and friends who were lovely and there was always lots of laughter.

The food was freshly prepared (and no flies as reported in other shacks) and was consistently delicious and believe me we tried most things on the menu, it was interesting to note that a lot of Indians also ate here which for us was a good indication of quality and value. In the evening Shankis mother does the cooking she is a professional chef in her day job. I would go as far as to say the currys are better than Infernos in town. Shanki’s beach beds are also comfortable unlike some along the beach that looked worse for wear with thin matresses and uncomfortable. Sharon who works the beds for Shanki, is delightful and has a great sense of humour, if you leave your beach towels with her at the end of the day she will put them out for you the next day which saves you dragging them down every day. Sharon also does some great nail painting for the ladies and will make you laugh selling her ‘good crap’. As we ate and drank at Princess Corner when we were on the beach during the day, Shanki did not charge us for using the sunbeds, it seems that other shacks charge 100 rupees for their beds regardless.

The toilet is basic but clean and some grumbled about not having a shower although there is one you can use for 200 rupees, to be honest we don’t have showers and toilets on some of our beautiful rural beaches in the UK so it was a bonus.

The only downside was having to listen to the insanely loud music coming from Ryan’s shack next door from 4pm – 6pm which did seem to drive his own customers over the age of 18 off their sunbeds and beating a hasty retreat up the beach, it wouldn’t be so bad if the guy had more than one CD of club music. However Shanki and his family more than made our holiday a special one and I hope they have the opportunity in the shack ‘lottery’ to return next year. Shanki you sent Helen and milky Boy home 10lb heavier with your good food!

We bought a cricket bat, tennis ball and stumps for Sharons son Anil, this was brought out at 4pm every day and the whole beach including lifeguard enjoyed a friendly game of cricket bringing cultures together

TIP for first timers
Take alcohol hand spray as everyone in India will want to shake your hand and there is often nowhere to wash your hands before you eat. We have never been ill doing this.

If you are staying in the beach shacks to eat in the evening there are often power cuts in Goa and sometimes only briefly, carrying a torch is useful as the sun sets at around 6pm.
Also its wise to take insect spray on the beach in the evenings, there is a very good local brand you can buy for 100 rupees caled ODOMOS it works better and smells better than the expensive brands in the UK.

Some people get a little worried about locals selling their wares on the beach - a polite no thank you is taken with good grace and they move on. The sellers along the roadside are rather more persistant at selling which can be tedious just say MAKANAKA, this means "I am not interested in any of it". If you dont want to pack beach towells you can buy them from the road sellers very cheaply on your walk to the beach and leave them with Sharon when you return home (she will be very grateful) and keep your luggage weight down!

Enjoy Princess corner - we did and will return
